Israel, Hamas agree on four-day truce, hostage release and aid into Gaza

Note that this isn’t ALL the hostages – just 50 in exchange for 150 Palestinians imprisoned in Israel. archive.org link

A statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said 50 women and children will be released over four days, during which there will be a pause in fighting.

For every additional 10 hostages released, the pause would be extended by another day, it said, without mentioning the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange.

Hamas said the 50 hostages would be released in exchange for 150 Palestinian women and children who are held in Israeli jails. The truce deal will also allow hundreds of trucks of humanitarian, medical and fuel aid to enter Gaza, the Palestinian group said in a statement.

It’s not enough. It’s better than nothing, but it’s not enough.

Of course Bibi didn’t mention the Palestinian women and children.

He isn’t going to admit that Israel uses hostage-taking to demoralize and torment Palestinians.

At best, he’ll make reference to “prisoners”, and not address why they have a bunch of child prisoners in the first place.

I did not know Israel has Palestinian women and children held as prisoners. So sad!

How long after their release will Israel kidnap those released again?

The prisoners include Palestinians from the West Bank. Gaza is the open air prison.

The term “open air prison” was what human rights groups (iirc amnesty international) used to describe Gaza. I dont know of any creditable international human rights groups that have referred to the west bank as an “open air prison” in their reports on the region.

Dont confuse human rights NGOs with shitty center right corporate media.

Do you actually confuse the two?

Let’s hope that with enough international pressure, this truce will stay longer, and humanitarian aids can be properly given to Palestinians.

Which side do you think will break it first?

One side will claim the other did. And respond.

We all know what way around it will be.

But will see debates about weather or not the evidence of it being broken is real.

EDIT: honestly trying to avoid takibg sides. As niether are entirly innocent.

But fuck I am getting fed up with all sides claiming any support for the other is racist.

We have to much fucking racism to allow governemts to pull it out as a properganda move\weapon of war. While ignoring the actual actions.

Israel. They don’t keep their promises and haven’t for their entire existence.

In addition to Israeli citizens, more than half the hostages held foreign and dual citizenship from some 40 countries including the U.S., Thailand, Britain, France, Argentina, Germany, Chile, Spain and Portugal, Israel’s government has said. Implementing the deal must wait for 24 hours to give Israeli citizens the chance to ask the Supreme Court to block the release of Palestinian prisoners, reports said. Qatar’s chief negotiator in ceasefire talks, Minister of State at the Foreign Ministry Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, told Reuters that the International Committee of the Red Cross would be working inside Gaza to facilitate the hostages’ release. The armed wing of the Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad, which participated in the Oct. 7 raid with Hamas, said late on Tuesday that one of the Israeli hostages it has held since the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel had died. “We previously expressed our willingness to release her for humanitarian reasons, but the enemy was stalling and this led to her death,” Al Quds Brigades said on its Telegram channel. — Saved 79% of original text.
