Irish I had one

datelmd5sum ,

I thought the bit in the north was a part of another country?

Interesting little ditty: At the time that phone was out, The Republic of Ireland held a constitutional claim on the whole island. Only with the peace process was it agreed to remove that claim.

ZombiFrancis ,

It’s calling it ‘Derry’ too so the phone is firmly taking a stance.

JackGreenEarth ,

What else is it called?

ZombiFrancis ,

The official name is “Londonderry”.

Nastybutler ,

Didn’t realize Letterkenny was a town in Ireland too

Right next to Dary (sp) no less

BonesOfTheMoon OP ,

Yes! A lot of places in Ontario are named after places in Ireland, England, Scotland etc actually.

Nastybutler ,

OK, now this is embarrassing. I also didn’t realize the show Letterkenny was named for a town in Ontario. I thought it was a Broken Lizard or Kids in the Hall situation 🤦‍♂️

BonesOfTheMoon OP ,

It’s a great show! My favourite of all shows. It’s based on the town of Listowel Ontario though.

Tronn4 ,

Oh Danny boy! Can you hear the landline calling?

kinsnik ,

at least a simple post with no political interpretation possible

I need an irish unification phone in my life.

Everythingispenguins ,

It will only call 048 026 0601

deegeese ,

If that doubled as a map of phone prefixes it would be so cool.

@314xel@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, missed opportunity that would have actually been useful at the time.

lars ,

I’m sure that under the receiver it says
