I feel sorry for the boys growing up now looking at all these roided out monsters thinking they need to look like that to be good looking. In the 90’s we had actual regular sized people as the peak male specimen.
Just so I understand this correctly, is this a post mocking 20-something year olds by showing topics they believe to be niche, complex, or exclusive to an intelligent audience? And that by understanding these topics they are “propped up” compared to their peers?
Well stop doing your part. Stop interacting with Reddit. They are almost certainly doing Place right now just to boost their numbers and you’re falling for it
I will be the only person to agree and not suggest an app!
Unless there’s some fantastic game-changing functionality provided by the app, I’m fine with the webpage. I have a pi-hole at home that further enhances the “no ads” experience.
I didn’t use an app on reddit, either - old.reddit only! I left reddit and joined lemmy because fuck spez!
Using Jerboa I get infinite scroll and a more usable layout. The website works ok, but there’s lots of room for improvement.
All the stuff at the top on lemmy web page gets turned into buttons on the top and bottom of my phone that I don’t have to scroll up for. Vote buttons are big enough to hit easily. Titles flow on top of Images so I see more than a thumbnail without tapping.
Also that construction worker: has bad back, bad knees, arthritic hands and skin cancer at age 42
Don’t get me wrong the trades are amazing for a kid to get into right out of school, and they’re critically necessary. But don’t be expecting to make a lifelong career out of it, because it is absolutely hard on your body. Do it for 5 years max and move up to management.
Yeah, there's nothing wrong with being a construction worker. It's a super important and useful career. But it is hard work and it'll chew you up, then you're left not being able to work at all.
There are less intense trades. Sure, a bricklayer and drywaller is gonna be hurting after ten years, but telco, electronic security, automation, and fire alarm trades are quite sustainable and offer technical challenges often to keep things interesting. You just need to be okay with heights. We use scissor lifts quite a bit.
