Oof yeah, some places here are just full of it. It makes sense out of an archival perspective but it also loweres engagement because OP is never going to look at a comment
That’s fair. I see that plenty in the stomping grounds I cater to (shameless plug for [email protected]). Part of why I make it a point to make OC, outside of my very first post to dip my toes into meme making and 2 recreations of “classic” memes that needed the HD treatment. It’s not a bad thing to hold onto those old jokes and fond memories. Many of them stand strong for a reason and hopefully they help drive creativity forward as they have for me/others.
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !tenforward
So this guy had a video about Falling Down, I seen the pop culture and memes but never the movie. I was like well that was interesting, I’ll give a follow. Then he released an Encanto video… I love the movie and it’s my daughters favourite. He then went on to shit on every character because they didn’t want to fit into the role therr grandmother forced them into. Among other things he; said the arranged marriage was not a bad thing, the strong girl should suck it up, it doens’t matter what you want if you have responsibility, they should follow their traditions and then blamed Mirabel for all the trouble. Missing the main point of the movie being about generational trauma and wanting better for your children. Sorry for long rant xD
I watched Falling Down for the first time a few months ago, really only knowing Frank Grimes was based on him and it was an experience.
For me it’s usually more like youtube recommends the channel, I put the channel on as background for a day or two, even to the point of subbing maybe, until they get to a topic I actually know something about and realize they’re just reading wikipedia or regurgitating netflix documentaries or something and don’t really bother to understand what they’re talking about
Some of them are pretty funny. It’s rare but it happens. Some are ironically funny because he almost makes a valid point while trying to make a racist one. Like fingertips on lucidity.
“Call him Voldemort, Harry. Always use the proper name for things. Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself.”
Don’t avoid the name, DISCREDIT the name. Someone finds a comic that’s funny? Link his Neo-Nazi work so they know the artist.
“Refusing” to even say the name with the same stupid unoriginal phrase is not only useless and counterproductive, it’s weak. Search “Pebble Yeet” and guess what you find.
