Troubleshooting a game crash on Steam Deck

Running PGR on the deck with Proton GE latest (also tried Wine, same thing).

A new update has an in-engine cutscene during a boss fight that crashes the game

Codec error looks like 00f4:err:winediag:h264_decoder_create GStreamer doesn’t support H.264 decoding, please install appropriate plugins

So a bit of google later, it looks like I need to install gst-libav but a sudo pacman -S gst-libav fails because Read-only file system
