Pidgin broken after upgrade to 23.04

Pidgin doesn’t work anymore since I upgraded from 22.10 to 23.04 today. I get the following error when I try to open it in Terminal:
*** stack smashing detected ***: terminated
Aborted (core dumped)If I try to open it from the launcher it doesn’t open and I get no error at all. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem? I apparently have version 2.14.12 installed.
