Good dumb TV for my living room media center?

Just had my old dumb LG TV die after 9 years of working just dandy. I lack the desire to root around for a dead capacitor so I am currently in the market for an approximate replacement to act as the display for my Linux media center in my living room. I figure this is the right crowd for finding a non-invasive TV so my Linux...

KDE freezes when going to sleep/suspending

For quite some time now, KDE has intermittently been unable to go to sleep. It will either go to a black screen with the cursor still showing, and the computer running, or it will show a half frozen sddm looking screen with the computer still running. The computer, in both cases, will be wholly unresponsive, and the only way to...

What modern (gaming) laptops should be avoided for proprietary firmware or whitelists/gate keeping? Also posted Linux GPU telemetry data from Stable Diffusion

I’m looking for a machine to run OpenGPT, Stable Diffusion, and Blender. I’m on the precipice of buying an Alienware w/ Ryzen 9 with a Radeon RX6850m. I’ve never needed anything near this level on Linux and I’m scared TBH. I’d much rather get a System76, but the equivalent hw has Nvidia and costs more than twice as...

I have a Steam Deck and I’ve been trying to install packages from AUR and have gotten nothing but endless errors trying to do so. The dependencies I want to install have dependencies which have dependencies which have dependencies....

Fedora Workstation 40 Considering To Implement Privacy-Preserving Telemetry (www.phoronix.com)

Just in the consideration phase, but makes you wonder the timing after the Red Hat move. Maybe alright if they do it the KDE way of needing to manually opt in and not like Cononical’s painful way of manually having to opt out. Or Firefox’s needing to manually opt out though easy.
