I use Manjaro, but I run it like vanilla Arch (for example pacman/yay and not pamac). I find this to be a sweet spot for me - rolling releases are so incredibly nice, and Manjaro being slightly slower than Arch is good from a stability standpoint in my experience.

I use ZFS all over the place, including the root storage pool on my home server, which has overall been a great experience with systemd-boot.

Debian, for ultimate stability, Fedora for every day, and Arch for my project box.

visforvictory , in r/linux is private now

i don’t think i could really care less.

lemmy is just really exciting!!

I’ve felt in love woth Debian the moment I used it for the first time

klangcola , in Long time Linux user feeling burnt out

I’m actually having the opposite experience (for the most part). All the little papercuts of yesteryear are almost completely gone, and it’s only looking better on the horizon. Of course your mileage may vary depending on use case and hardware…

Some things of the top of my head:

  • Flatpak replacing 3rd party PPAs. Brand new software without dependency hell or breaking system packages? Yes please
  • Snaps and AppImages too
  • XDG Portals standards, making snaps and flatpaks play nice with confinement
  • Audio and Bluetooth? It “just works” now
  • Pipewire
  • Even gaming works really well now, with Proton, DXVK etc
  • AMD and Intel drivers baked in to the kernel
  • Wayland finally being production ready for many use-cases, and being adopted as the default, fixing so many of the ancient X11 issues (screen tearing, multiple displays with different scaling, refresh rate, fractional scaling) ( cries in Nvidia )
  • Nvidia finally changing their mind so Wayland on Nvidia can be a thing (I can’t wait 😊)
  • KDE Connect / gsConnect phone integration
  • Screensharing on Wayland even on legacy X11 apps becoming a thing through the new screensharing Portal

The only problem I’ve had recently is Ubuntu’s forced snapification, and snap being very rough around the edges for Desktop apps (ahem drag’drop)

Fedora, I’m not a tech person by Linux user standards and I just need an OS that works

floppingfish , in What distro(s) do you use?

Linux Mint, it just works

NixOS. Declarative reproducible immutable systems are the future.

bluegandalf , in What distro(s) do you use?

Have been using Fedora for a year now. Had used Pop OS for about 6months before that.

kylian0087 , in What distro(s) do you use?

Right now i am using OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. But i am experimenting with NixOS as well. Bdw first comment on lemmy!

hugz , in What distro(s) do you use?

I distro hop a lot. After using Majaro (gnome) for a long time I switched to Pop_OS for a long time. I switched back to Manjaro (Gnome) again, but after a week of use I’ve just downloaded Ubuntu.

I’m getting basic display issues that I’ve never got in another distro (including tails!) and it’s generally annoying me. I’d rather use a distro that doesn’t require troubleshooting on Day 1

Linux Mint for desktops/laptops (Cinnamon if the hardware can handle it, MATE if it’s a bit long in the tooth), and Debian for servers.

I’ve used several distros (yes, even Arch btw) through the years but I just keep finding myself coming back to the Debian-based ones. I guess I just feel most at-home with the way it has things set up, or something.

octobob , in What distro(s) do you use?

Arch baybeeee 💯💯💯
