Update 1: Thanks for all the responses! I’ve gotten a lot of very good comments saying I should stick with Mint, and that’s sitting comfortably in my top two picks right now. Between new distros, I’m most interested in Arch’s rolling release model, as it provides some benefits for me for reasons I didn’t really get...
Most of the functionality is present but many important bits are still being developed.
I now see this when i boot up. I just restarted my pc and now i get this.
Hi, just recently it’s foss had an article about homelabs. Of course I digged in, since there is a small nuc working tirelessly in the corner of my routers closet. So far it just crawls some web pages for me and sends emails accordingly to my filters. So I hoped to find new exciting stuff to let it crunch through. The articles...
Dell has got to be one of the most frustrating companies that put out a linux laptop. They put out a laptop certified for ubuntu but then never support newer releases. A big part of their hardware is always proprietary drivers like webcam, fingerprint reader etc… Then you update to a new LTS release because lets be serious...
Is this a totally crazy idea? Talk me down before I hurt myself.
Actually I am switching to Wayland and Most of apps I use support GTK Theming (Librewolf,Thunderbird,Libreoffice etc). But I cant find any terminal which is based on Gtk so that I can complete this theming. So do you people know of any GTK based Terminal for wayland?
I never thought about it before but I use upstream and downstream without much though. For my personal devices and containers I use Fedora but when it comes to servers and VMs I use Debian for its stable nature....
Anyone else remember Corel Linux?
I got a minimal setup with pihole and nextcloud. I was wondering what else I could do. Share your ideas🙂
This post is in part a response to an aspect of Nate’s post “Does Wayland really break everything?“, but also my reflection on discussing Wayland protocol additions, a unique pleasure that I have been involved with for the past months....

I was talking to my dad yesterday and he talked about how he dual booted windows and Linux in his college days. I immediately left to download Ubuntu, I feel so dumb for forgetting it’s an option. I literally only use windows so I can play Fortnite with friends. PSA: you can have both Linux and Windows, or you can use a vm in...
Has anyone done this? Its a very proprietary program lol, so I can imagine that doesnt work....

I have made a decision to start a Linux server for some projects (files, media, etc.). However, I don’t know what would be a good server for me to use. Is there any good choices for me to use? I use EndeavourOS for my laptop and my desktop, if that matters....
What are the main differences between pipewire and pulseaudio? Which one is better? What are other alternative popular sound servers besides these two?
Hi, Im searching for a secure distro for normal daily use for my laptop. Currently Im running arch linux with full disk encryption, secure boot, linux hardened, firewalld and most apps as flatpaks (with some disabled permissions using flatseal). I think its pretty secure laptop but it could be more secure....
For once I feel a little out of touch after I took a bit of a break from following the news to focus on studying, and suddenly everyone is talking about immutable distributions. What are they exactly? What are the benefits and the disadvantages of immutable systems?
About a week ago I setup Ubuntu as my primary OS on an old machine. It is my first time trying a unix based OS (previously windows). It has been ok, but it seems like every time I try to install something I run into problems. The app has the wrong permissions or I don’t have the right packages or I need to change port settings...
