(Guix GNU+Linux) Need help with packages with older versions than wanted on the Guix Channel.
Hello. I am new to the Guix GNU+Linux distro. And I’m trying to get the latest version of Anki (2.1.65). However, an older version (2.1.16) is what’s there in the Guix channel (which is too old). I’m reading here that a simple edit to the education.scm file (the version var) would fix it. Unfortunately, the education.scm...

Howdy, everybody. I’m posting this here in an attempt to begin to move some information that is currently only stored on Reddit over to Lemmy instead, that way we’ll start coming up in Google searches and we can get our information locally. I’ll post my source in the comments if anyone’s interested....

Rocky wants to continue getting RHEL sources via public cloud instances and/or via UBI container images (www.phoronix.com)
While I disagree with Red Hat’s decision to hinder source access, this move from Rocky (a commercial company!) seems even more disingenuous, imho.

What is the current state of Nvidia's open source drivers?
I’m on KDE Plasma with Nvidia and Wayland with the proprietary 530 drivers but really the experience (due to Nvidia’s own fault) doesn’t feel polished at all although it’s very smooth, but the fact of having to be constantly switching between Xorg and Wayland because one or another program doesn’t behave the way it...

RHEL and Fedora for home use
I see a lot of posts about Redhat for putting their code base behind a paywall. I’ve only been using Linux as my main desktop OS for a couple of years now. Someone recommended Fedora at the time, and I’ve been happy with it. I had previously tried PopOS, Mint, and Ubuntu, but none of them convinced me to switch from Windows...
