Man, if you told me a couple months ago, that I would stop using Reddit, I wouldn’t believe you. I’ve been on it over a decade. It took Spez ONE MONTH to undo everything and make that a reality.
I never understood this obsession with internet points to the point where people are willing to farm them. I guess on Reddit there was a monetary incentive, with people selling accounts with certain amounts of karma. Honestly to me it’s always been more like “cool, I got 48 upvotes on this post” or whatever, and move on with my day.
There goes RiF, so there goes me. Almost 12 years of Reddit, gone.
PSA: You can use browser scripts to securely delete your posts and comments. Don’t gift Reddit your content. Force search engines to scrub dead Reddit links from their results.
(Post) modern life is so empty, it’s so soulless. Society has been deconstructed and we are all now fully atomized, utility maximizing individuals in an endless cycle of earning and consuming. Earn, consume - make money, spend money. Interpersonal relationships, family, community have all become secondary to the earn/consume cycle. We now all only live to serve the endless profit behemoth. Even nature itself is only a tool for profit.
We need to reintegrate back into the natural world and refocus on community and human relationships. We need to prioritize sustainability, health, happiness, and well being for ourselves and future generations over short term individual gains and immediate gratification.
