There is more to it actually. Coupled with the idea of the Fediverser Portal, it will (hopefully) make it easier for people stuck on reddit to migrate, because all they will have to do is authorize the connection between reddit and the “Fediversed” Lemmy instance to get an account, already subscribed with all the communities they are used to follow.
