Moderation needs a perfect touch. Too much and you get banned for going against the hive mind or offending an advertiser and no genuine discussion can occur. The mods will come for your ideas too.
Too little and you get spam and lathe accident compilations where genuine discussion is chased out.

The internet is a big place, you find a spot your cozy and stick around until it's not cozy. Your never going to get along with everyone and some will hate you for no good reason. It's up to you where you go.
I will gladly read some horrible opinion I disagree with. I don't need someone stranger telling me I can't read mean words. I can make my own decisions on my interpenetration. If I get pissed or harassed, I can decide leave.
