I’m in the UK, and prices keep rising. As of right now I can expect to pay around £120, for two people, over a week. This week was £143. For those in the US, that’s a little over $180. Pre pandemic, and actually leaving the EU, groceries was half that price.

I thought you fed on sovereignty like the rest of us?

You’re missing out, bruvva

I’ve spent close to $250 to feed a big family. What really made it expensive was Dietz Nuts. The bags were so big and expensive, greasy and oily. They were worth the price though.

Ever?

About 3k? Ish?

Me and my wife didn’t do a regular wedding or reception. But we wanted to throw a little party with a smaller group.

Steaks, some wine and beer, some nice roasted veggies, desserts, etc. The meat was the biggest chunk ,tbones. Wine was a few hundred. Beer was relatively cheap, just got a keg of Heineken for the few folks that would prefer beer since I knew they all would be okay with it.

The desserts were part homemade, part professional. The big cake was about 300 iirc. The stuff I made was maybe the same for all of it.

There were some kiddie foods in there for the young’ns that couldn’t/wouldn’t do steak and the kind of veggies.

Soft drinks for the non alcohol folks.

But yeah, the grilling was bonkers. My uncle helped me set up a temporary grill big enough to do the steaks in three batches. It was fifty people? I think, there were some no-shows and some unexpected. We had enough steaks for more than that, because mooching is not an unusual thing in the family lol.

I’ll never do a party that big again though. Fucking hell.

In a week? I think the highest was $250 I think. It was probably for Christmas or Thanksgiving.
