Anyone have any thoughts or experiences with using a sign language as someone with eye contact avoidance?

cross-posted from: hexbear.net/post/3081907 and hexbear.net/post/3076602

For instance, did it go OK to wear sunglasses indoors; or did the eye contact avoidance disappear when using the sign language, only to reappear when using a spoken language; things like that.

Didn’t get any responses the previous two times I asked, so I might as well ask one last time.

Does it have to be sign? What about a chat app?

I hate eye contact and I have a deaf friend. It’s great, because I get to look down at their hands the whole time (they always sign as well as talking with hearing peole, which is super hard to do, and apparently kinda rude with other deaf people?)

On the other hand, when I sign, I look at my hands, because I’m shit at signing.
