Why cant I upload pictures from my Camera?

Ive tried uploading multiple pictures I’ve taken with my phone’s camera and havent been able to upload them to multiple different instances. Are they too large a file or too high res to upload? Really wanted to share pics to some of the smaller craft instances, but so far I’ve been limited to posting memes since I cant share any pics I actually take… any help would be appreciated!!

The filesize limit is set per instance. As an alternative, you can use postimages.org (optionally with an account so you can manage your photos), then link the image URL from there to your Lemmy posts.

I was given a pre-suspension warning once from Imgur for using one of their own old site-sponsored memes because the mods thought said meme was racist. The whole faculty there is definitely not how it used to be, the site is sponsoring its own downfall at this rate.
