I think I actually prefer the simplicity of the old one. In general, I find logos with too many textures a little distracting or “noisy”

lorez ,

Same.

WorldlyIntrospection , in New Android logo

Can we make up our minds, please?
In the 90s-2000s we had these shaded, almost 3D icons everywhere. Then we transitioned to a flat, minimalist style.
Give us something new and exciting instead of capitalizing on “retro nostalgia”

The 2000’s were very…amorphous. Like, remember the Cingular Wireless blob dude? Or the MusicMatch logo? Not the black and white jagged thing, the orange blob and blue bigger blob? And how all personal electronics were strange plastic shapes painted silver and purplish-blue? And the world hadn’t gone insane yet?

platysalty ,

Yeah, I was like "what new logo?". I remember when the 2D logo was new and the 3D one was old.

sup , in New Android logo

I might be in the minority, but ignoring the actual design, I’m hopeful that the trend of flat design is coming to an end. Wasn’t really a big fan of that.

What is Boost?

Darkassassin07 ,
@Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca avatar

Boost For Reddit is one of the third party apps being forced to shutdown.

The dev is rebuilding it as Boost For Lemmy, keeping the same familiar interface so many have gotten used to.

mrwedodae ,

And loved. Simple clean UI.

I can’t speak to the galaxies, but I have the pixel 7 and I really like it. Pictures are pretty great, and the interface is intuitive. It has some nice bells and whistles, like call screening. Battery is pretty solid too.

Changed from an ipjone; won’t go back

I just stayed off the fediverse while new users signed up and jerboa is back and working for me on android.

itsamenathan , in S22 Series vs S23 Series vs Pixel 7 series

S22 has pretty bad battery life compared to the S21. I’ve not tried the S23, maybe Google Fi will buy me an upgrade for Black Friday again this year.

Performance wise I have no issues with the S22.

Elindio ,

The s23 has some of the best battery life I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of phones

emperorbenguin ,

I’m using the S23 ultra and the battery life is phenomenal, even at full resolution, framerate and performance.

legocorp ,

I moved from the S22 to the S23 and I love it. The S22 was truly awful when it comes to battery life. Turning on 120hz refresh would literally lower the percentage of the battery by the minute. The S23 is amazing, , no more battery anxiety knowing that at the end of the day I still have enough to keep me going.

EddieTee77 OP ,

Wow! I keep hearing the S23 is the way to go when you want better battery life. That is the most important feature, I’d say

The battery improvement with the S23 series is huge, you can pretty much cross off the other options, I do use the Pixel6 Pro.

EddieTee77 OP ,

That’s what I keep hearing. I have also heard of battery trouble and overheating on the Pixel series.

Is the battery improvements that much better than the S22?

ErraticDragon , in What are Android's Best Weather Apps?
@ErraticDragon@kbin.social avatar

I'm a fan of the very light, widget-only AF Weather. All it does is a chart showing temp & precipitation for the next 24hrs. I like it more than "hourly" forecasts in other apps, but it is pretty niche.

chimbori , in Managing bookmarks across browsers? - OFFLINE

Did you mean “offline” as in not online (which makes little sense for a browser), or more like “not tied to a specific service that may hold your data hostage or infringe upon your privacy”?

If the latter, then I’ve found that a simple HTML file with manually added entries works great. I’ve set it as the home page in all my browsers. I retain full control over content and layout as well.)

WhoRoger OP ,
@WhoRoger@lemmy.world avatar

I meant not online sync or accounts, because everyone keeps recommending these despite me writing that one requirement in bold.

What do you use to edit html?

Also wait, how do you set a local file as the home page?

Goauld_are_Pokemon , in Jerboa currently unusable for other people?

Im using Connect for Lemmy on android. It seems to working fine so far.
