shalva97 , in How come Android doesn't have a built in PDF viewer?

You could try their official app play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adobe.r…

while many people hate it, it does work and has nice UI. Dark theme is my favourite.

Aurenkin , in YouTube app miniplayer redesign works like picture-in-picture

YouTube for Android is testing

I call BS, the amount of bugs I regularly run into I don’t think they test much of anything. I sometimes wonder if they even use their own products. The current mini player regularly bugs out for me plus I run into general bugs in the YouTube app pretty often. I guess nobody gets promoted at Google for fixing bugs.

30p87 ,

Same for Discord etc. There are tons of bugs and stupid design choices that reside for weeks. Meanwhile yes, Eternity (Lemmy client) Nightly does crash currently while commenting - so I’m using Eternity stable release - but that’s probably already fixed and I just didn’t update.

helpImTrappedOnline ,

Thats the neat part; they found a billion of people to test for free!

gaylord_fartmaster , in Is there anything like Native Alpha using the Firefox engine?

I’ve never used Native Alpha, but from what I saw at a glance, Firefox does have that same functionality built in through the “Add to Home Screen” option, but only if the site is a PWA. Otherwise the home screen icon will just open the site in the browser like it normally would.

drwankingstein ,

native alpha works with any application, and is a manager of sorts. so it’s quite a lot more ergonomic and reliable to use.

user , in Is there anything like Native Alpha using the Firefox engine?

No. Even if a Firefox webview existed, it woul’d not use the extensions from your main browser. An adblock option is available from the native alpha settings if you’re interested.

clubb ,

It does exist, and it does use your extentions.

What is it?

user ,

That is not a webview. You have to understand what you’re talking about.

hperrin , in [Q] do all premium headsets Samsung/Bose/Sony have “okay Google” wake-word for hands free assistant?

I use an Anker Soundcore, and it doesn’t. Not exactly premium, but I like it.

str82L , in [Q] do all premium headsets Samsung/Bose/Sony have “okay Google” wake-word for hands free assistant?
@str82L@lemmy.world avatar

If Bose does I’m unaware of it. Then again I never turn that kind of function on if I am aware of it.

FoxyFerengi ,

My Bose nc700 headphones have a button for Google assistant.

saltesc , in [Q] do all premium headsets Samsung/Bose/Sony have “okay Google” wake-word for hands free assistant?

Sony. Nope. It can be activated with a press, though never use it.

neidu2 , in [Q] do all premium headsets Samsung/Bose/Sony have “okay Google” wake-word for hands free assistant?

I think my Jabra are considered premium as well. And they do not.

lazycouchpotato , in Will you pay for satellite features?
@lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe for a month if I’m on a trip to a remote location. Don’t really see a use for it other than that.

hendrik , in Is there anything like Native Alpha using the Firefox engine?

Yes. You can open a website in Firefox and choose "Add to home screen" from the menu. That'll do something very similar to what native alpha does.

drawerair , (edited ) in Google Messages adopts double FAB to promote Gemini

Been using Samsung messages for years, not Google messages, but I just wanna comment.

I’m OK with it. It’s been an ai race. It’s natural that Google is taking advantage of the millions of Android phones and of the fact that many are using Google messages and Gmail. Adding Gemini to Google messages is sensible to me. I just hope it won’t be annoying.

Gmail has been my main email but I didn’t see Gemini in it. Maybe in the future?

kuneho , in [Q] do all premium headsets Samsung/Bose/Sony have “okay Google” wake-word for hands free assistant?
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

more like a dedicated assistant button than wake-word I think

drawerair , (edited ) in Google set to purge the Play Store of low-quality apps

Frequently unresponsive or very unstable apps shouldn’t have been in the Play store in the 1st place.

Anyway, to the Play store’s credit, I downloaded many bank apps and I never got a fake bank app.

Lutra , in Google Drive video uploads now have auto-generated captions

…and letting users know, at some level, they are analyzing every video uploaded to google drive.

LucidBoi ,

they’re already doing that

cupcakezealot ,
@cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

i mean if you think they arent already thats sill… if only just to keep off the csam.

gaylord_fartmaster , in How to handle a miss-communicated repair?

Credit card charge back, demand letter written by an attorney, or small claims court.

Those are pretty much your options.

ApplyingAutomation OP ,
@ApplyingAutomation@lemmy.world avatar

This is what I figured, I’ll reach out to my credit card company and see where this goes. 😥
