Yeah. Fuck Reddit. Their value is in our helpful answers. So let them not to have that answers šŸ™‚

designated_fridge , in Fuck yeah, r/android is still on lockdown

Makes a lot of sense since itā€™s a sub for power users. The proportion of 3rd party app users is probably among the highest at Reddit

Jcb2016 , in Fuck yeah, r/android is still on lockdown

Bet them mods used Rif :P

airehiso , in Your next OnePlus phone could have a whopping 24GB of RAM

This is just ā€œbig numbers better.ā€ I can run a lot of apps on 16Gb RAM in pc, why would a small one canā€™t?

figaro OP , in Fuck yeah, r/android is still on lockdown

For the record, I know this because Iā€™m going through my old comments and turning them into ads for lemmy šŸ˜…

Iā€™m surprised people still want foldable phones. IMO theyā€™re a gimmick - worse, a gimmick based on technology that clearly isnā€™t ā€œall the way thereā€ yet.

joedinkle ,

Have you used one as a daily driver yet? Theyā€™re great!

I started with a SD2, then moved to the ZF4. I loved the Surface, but itā€™s design caused some issues that the ZF4 doesnā€™t have. The ZF4 is great, and really shows of Samsungā€™s software innovations to just the screen real estate.

Not sure Iā€™d go back to a standard slate style phone.

Wolfwood1 , in Your next OnePlus phone could have a whopping 24GB of RAM

If you thought the 12 to 16GB of RAM offered with most flagship Android devices today is enough

Youā€™re wrong, I thought 6 to 8GB of RAM were enough. Iā€™m still rocking my OnePlus 5, and seeing their last few years I donā€™t think Iā€™ll get another OnePlus smartphone.

If you need more RAM on a smartphone than on a laptop, youā€™re doing something wrong. You canā€™t solve everything by just adding more RAM

Charcoal8645 , in Can we get a weekly app recommendation thread?
@Charcoal8645@lemmy.world avatar

As long as we donā€™t get a thousand wallpaper apps, Iā€™d be down for that

Economizer , in What is the status of Magisk? How to hide root?

I use Magisk Delta (a fork of Magisk) on an otherwise stock Pixel 7 Pro. Everything works including banking apps and Google Pay.

mrjfilippo ,

What made you choose the delta fork over the original? First time I hear of it.

Economizer ,

Because the dev now works at Google, he had to remove the root hiding functions called SU Hide. You can bring it back with various modules, but I was lazy and wanted a install one, do all solution.

Magisk Delta is a fork that brings back SU Hide, and I havenā€™t needed to install an extra app to fix any apps it couldnā€™t hide root from.

I do not understand the appeal of these devices. Most of the time, itā€™s just a phone but twice as heavy and twice as think.

Then every blue moon you make it into a small subpar tablet?

shrugal ,
@shrugal@lemmy.world avatar

Itā€™s the dream of just opening up your regular phone to have a small tablet, clashing with the reality that your phone will never be regular sized if you want it to be able to do this!

Maybe someday phones can be like 4mm thin, so doubling that for a foldable would be reasonable. But we are definitely not there yet.

vtez44 , in What is the status of Magisk? How to hide root?

I'm still using Magisk on LOS 20. Banking app works flawlessly and SafetyNet passes, at least on microg.

You just need to install this module instead of using magiskhide now: https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix

trubedour , in What's something that was dismissed as a gimmick but you liked?
@trubedour@lemmy.world avatar

Not so much a gimmick, as much as something that seemingly went extinct that I miss: rear fingerprint sensors. I loved them on my Nexus/Pixels, and the in-screen one on my 6a is way less consistent and convenient.

Also it flashbangs me when I try to unlock my phone at night.
