Remember, when they said “Never again,” they just meant “Never again shall antisemitism be tolerated.” They do not care at all about ethnic cleansings and outright celebrate the ones that protect this ideology.

Almost every western government feels guilt over the Holocaust that they’ve all bent over to protect the Israeli state against anything that could even be interpreted as possibly, maybe, being antisemitism.

Misleading title. This statement doesn’t actually say she supports Israel, fully or otherwise.

You might (somewhat reasonably) infer that from this statement, but it isn’t made clear, and to say that she is clarifying that she supports Israel is a mischaracterization.

You may not realize this, but you can be against Israel’s genocide of innocent Palestinians without supporting Hamas - which is also pro-genocide, just of Jews.

She still has to pay off the AIPAC money that get her into the Senate.

She won’t be as bad as Joe, but she’s already been bought and this statement after meeting with Bibi isn’t a very good indication of how she’ll govern.

My use of “you” was specific to the user to whom I was replying, not Harris. The user to whom I was replying implied that saying Hamas has a goal to kill Jews is a lie; it is not.

She didn’t quite say that either.

While I agree that there’s a common unhelpful myth that Hamas want to exterminate the Jews, and that Harris might be invoking that, she didn’t actually say they vow to “kill all Jews”.

She said “kill Jews”, not “kill all Jews”. (And I think it’s fair of her to say that, because they did just kill a thousand Jews in a terrorist attack in October.)

For people who don’t know, Hamas’s goal is for Jews and Palestinians to live in a unified single state (probably an Islamic one) called Palestine, where Arabs are the dominant group and Jews are a protected minority. (They want the return of 4 million Palestinian refugees to Palestine, which would make Jews a minority.)

(Obviously that would be unacceptable to the Jews, who feel that they need a Jewish-majority state for their own safety, but that’s besides the point now.)

Hence, Hamas want the elimination of Israel, but not the elimination of Jews. I think it’s unfortunate that this has so regularly been twisted into the claim that Hamas wants to eliminate the Jews.

They’ve also indicated that they might be open to compromising and negotiating a two-state solution. And yet, the claim that they want to eliminate the Jews has been used as an excuse to not negotiate with them.

Anyway, none of this matters now. Now that Hamas have committed a massive terrorist attack, there’s no way that anyone can negotiate with them.
