Bbbbbbbut it looks cool!

I seem to recall that Mercedes did it without incident.

Pretty sure Koenigsegg does too.

They probably spend more money on engineering and use better parts.

Raiderkev ,

It didn’t look like a big long weird floppy noodle though.

I don’t think the Mercedes ones are 1.22m long.

homesweethomeMrL ,

“Failures of the wiper motor shouldn’t come as a surprise,” said Sam Abuelsamid, an analyst at Guidehouse Insights.

“This is the largest individual wiper ever used on a light duty vehicle with a 4-foot-long (1.22 meter) blade. That exceptional long lever arm puts a lot of stress on the motor and there have been a lot of anecdotal reports popping up since early in production of failures,” he said, adding that the overall build quality of the Cybertruck is “quite poor.”

Me: Fuck you. That is an insult to Syd Mead’s legacy.

I mean (assuming thats the author idk) he was imagining a dystopian world, so this is a compliment in my book.

Syd Mead was a concept artist. Blade Runner was based on a short story by Philip K Dick called “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”

I guess it vaguely looks like this one in terms of the large flat plane in the front. Though it’s blade runner, so it’s all grungy like pieces are falling off and it’s all rusted and junk. Wait maybe cyber truck was inspired by bladeunner.

What if I told you two problems can exist at the same time?

sunzu ,

This was not a "mass shooting" US style...

This is likely linked to Dagestan's desire to leave the Russia Federation.

People of Northern Caucuses are not Russian ethnically or culturally nor do they want anything to do with their colonial daddy.

Russia is weakened by the war in Ukraine so these people are activating. Good for them. Fuck Russia.

Hopefully insurgency takes hold.

Maybe don’t write good for you in response to churches and synagogues getting attacked? It’s not like these guys went after legitimate military targets (with the exception of a police checkpoint).

These attackers may very well be tied to Isis; there is absolutely nothing good about them other than the fact that this is a problem for the Kremlin.

slaacaa , (edited ) to world in Death toll rises to 20 after gunmen attack Russia's Dagestan

A Russian civil war is not out of the question.

What many of us don’t know, is that the majority of people sent to the meat grinder in Ukraine is from peripheral regions like Dagestan, and not from central Russia (e.g. Moscow). These are different cultures and ethnicities subjugated by the Russian “empire”. And some of them are sick of being killed for the “emperor”, which can lead to unrest and maybe a civil war, like it did in many similar situations in history.

credo , to world in Teva launches generic version of Novo Nordisk's diabetes drug Victoza | Reuters

This article doesn’t cover it (specifically) so I went digging to see if this might compete with weight loss drugs as well:

Victoza (liraglutide) is also used to treat obesity. While it was originally approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, it has also been approved under the brand name Saxenda for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or who are overweight with at least one weight-related condition such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, or dyslipidemia. Saxenda and Victoza contain the same active ingredient, liraglutide, but they are marketed and dosed differently depending on the indication.

Google said:

As of April 2024, the list price for a 30-day supply of Saxenda (liraglutide) is around $1,350, but the actual cost can range from $1,590 to $1,656 without insurance or discounts.

slaacaa ,

Lol, in Europe Saxenda costs around 100 per box. Victoza and other versions for diabetics are even cheaper, as they are subsidized by health insurance (while Saxenda is not).

Archelon ,

But how else can the poor widdwe phawmaceuticaw congwomewate affowd to lobby government and aggressively market our crap to overpaid private healthcare companies so we can keep overcharging the fuck out of drugs we can make for pennies do aww ouw impowtant weseawch that’s paid for by taxpayers with subsidies and grants.

Curious to see how Putin spins this. He’s very committed to the Ukraine gambit and dividing force strength wouldn’t likely be in his favor at this point, so this seems off brand for a false flag. Or it’s more of the local terror groups taking advantage of the fact that they are focused on Ukraine.

andrew_bidlaw ,

My guess: unresolved national tensions and probable separatism seeds + weakness of the state in the last year (Prigo’s march, Krokus, buryatian demonstrations against jailing a known activist) + 24\7 stream of hatred on TV + jealousy of more autonomous and supported regions. That’s not like there wasn’t any violence here, but recently it became more apparent with Mahachkala’s airport being crowded by a mob of locals to ‘meet’ people who arrived from Israel. This place becomes more dangerous and as you pointed out Moskow would likely ignore it. And it’s too random for a false flag, I believe.

If I’m to guess based off your username, you probably have a lot better understanding of the Caucasus than I do. Thank you for your views.
Having just done a little research, I see Dagestan is high majority Muslim too, I can see that also adding some stress between them and the Orthodoxy common in the rest of Russia/it’s government. And give separatists a lever to push on.

Yes, the Soviet union collapsed under a lot of internal pressure and strive. And when the Soviet army was overextended and the government could no longer control their Empire. Losing in Afghanistan showed internal forces that the bear was not unbeatable.

I think it is safe to say that the Russian empire is getting more than a bloody nose in Ukraine.

So in this case there will be plenty of parties that have a bone to pick with the Russian empire and see the Russian army is … well … Busy.
