We had a tornado here a few years back at nearly 10pm. An hour later literally every able bodied individual was out with saws, trailers, wagons, carts, food, water, knocking on doors, checking on everyone and organizing the mess for cleanup.

TEGUCIGALPA, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Thousands of people took to the streets of the Honduran capital on Saturday in anti-government protests against leftist President Xiomara Castro, angered by attempts to engineer what they say is an unconstitutional power grab.
In a demonstration sponsored by opposition parties, protesters in the Central American country accused the Castro government of seeking to transform Honduras by hand picking public officials.
The opposition protest was sparked after the ruling party elected a new interim chief prosecutor on November 1, without holding a congressional vote.

JERUSALEM, Nov 10 (Reuters) - The Gaza war has dramatically increased the sense of solidarity with Israel among its 21% Arab minority, who often identify as Palestinian and have long complained of discrimination by the state, a poll published on Friday found.
Asked if they feel part of the country, 70% of Arab citizens polled said “yes”, up from 48% in June, the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) said, describing it as the highest finding for the sector since it began such surveys 20 years ago.
However, just 27% of Arab respondents said they felt optimistic about Israel’s future, compared to 72% of Jews.

ABOARD USS CARL VINSON, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Japan’s navy on Saturday announced the start of a joint annual military exercise, with the Philippines observing the operations for the first time as the two countries seek closer maritime cooperation.
The Japan-led Annualex exercise started on Friday with operations conducted by the naval forces of the United States, Australia and Canada, with the Philippines attending as an observer, Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force Vice Admiral Akira Saito told reporters.
“The Philippines is a very important country for us, and we are looking to coordinate with their navy at every possible opportunity,” Saito said aboard the USS Carl Vinson as it sailed in an undisclosed location in the Pacific Ocean.
The exercise comes as Japan, the U.S. and the Philippines seek closer ties and deeper security cooperation to counter China, though Saito said the operations are not being conducted to target a specific country.
Saito added that strong cooperation between like-minded countries is crucial for the stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
Separately the Philippines’ coast guard said on Saturday it would maintain its regular supply missions to troops stationed on a disputed atoll in the South China Sea even though it expects more Chinese vessels to be sent to the area.

Large-scale displacement, increased humanitarian needs and further destruction of property remain likely, OCHA said, with some 1.5 million hectares (3.70 million acres)of farmland potentially being destroyed.
“Extreme weather linked to the ongoing El Niño risks further driving up humanitarian needs in already-vulnerable communities in Somalia and many other places,” said Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General, the UN’s Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.

A study of a thousand glaciers in the area showed the rate of melting has entered a new phase over the last two decades, Anders Anker Bjork, assistant professor at the department of geosciences and natural resource management at the University of Copenhagen told Reuters.
“There is a very clear correlation between the temperature we experience on the planet and the changes we observe in how rapidly the glaciers are melting,” Bjork said.

Lowering temperatures would require a global effort to minimise greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, said Jørgen Eivind Olesen, Institute Director of the Climate Institute at Aarhus University.

CAIRO, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Evacuations from the Gaza Strip into Egypt for foreign passport holders and Palestinians needing medical treatment resumed through the Rafah crossing on Thursday after being suspended for a day, Egyptian security and medical sources said.

LONDON, Nov 6 (Reuters) - The downturn in euro zone business activity accelerated last month as demand in the dominant services industry weakened further, a survey showed on Monday, suggesting there is a growing chance of a recession in the 20-country currency union.
