It was clearly staged. You expect me to believe that an American, a person from the land of guns, a person who grew up in schools filled with guns somehow can’t manage to hit his target with a gun; While a little over two years ago some Japanese dude, from the country that abhors guns, where guns are all but completely banned was able to not only make a cave-gun but also managed to lethally hit their target with it?
One of my favorite songs is The Stage, by Avenged Sevenfold, and I honestly think the THX sound has a large port of it. First 30 seconds are basically just a solid THX sound… huge nostalgia hit hight out the gate. The rest of the song is fucking epic on its own, but that first bite is just… chef’s kiss
It didn’t become one of my favorites until after I saw the vid. I’d heard it prior to that, and took the stage thing literally - like, okay, you’re performing on a stage… that’s what you do…? Then I watched the video and “Oh. Oooooooh. Oh shit!” It’s a metaphor, and they pull ZERO punches. Extremely critical of humanity, but without being whiny or doomy (well… in a ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ kinda way: it doesn’t feel doomy but the actual message… yeah…). And they pulled it off with fucking marionette puppets somehow without making it feel silly. HOW?!
Idk if this is still the case, but I pirated a shit load of psytrance with DC++ back around 2005-06. Might be worth checking there, or maybe soulseek. I can’t vouch for soulseek personally but a ton of friends love it. I find with more niche things like more obscure electronic music peer to peer beats the pants off torrents.
Shout out to my first rave, caught Infected Mushroom in Montreal during the Classical Mushroom / BP Empire era. Been a fan of psytrance and a good uggadugga bass line ever since.
The ektoplazm.com is still up, though with archive mode and a rate-limit. Please clone it. One day I’ll start a process that I’ll not regret, while I/you can.
I have a puny 30GiB slice of it, and it’s the best thing that I have. All for free. Non-pirated. (the owner has reported the total space consumed is multiple a 1TB)
