Isreal-Palestine is more complicated than Ukraine-Russia. Russia invaded Ukraine using bullshit claims like Ukraine is full of Nazis and parts of Ukraine have voluntarily separated from Ukraine and joined Russia.
Both the Isrealies and Palestinians were legally given the territory by the UK who took it over during WWII (because why not?) After discovering its the only place in the middle east with no oil they traded it to two different nations accidentally. Oops! And then they told the newly formed UN to fix it. The UN divided the country up into an impossible to implement puzzle piece arrangement that Isreal quickly ignored.
They then became an ultra rich nation by becoming world leaders in military weapon design and manufacturing. Because they’re so rich and produce something very valuable, they have a lot of nations who are willing to look the other way in the border dispute. However, Palestine has valid claims still and are definitely being mistreated. Unfortunately for them, they don’t have lots of money or advanced weapons.
Israeli connections with the US is the main reasoning behind the lack of outcry imo.
Israel has also taken a turn very much for the worse. The mistreatment we have witnessed previously is nothing compared to what could be coming. This is so severe even parts of the Israeli army have gone on strike. Israeli is being usurped by theocracy which sees arabs as non human. They wish to remove all rights and privileges from arabs all together. The only difference between this and Isis is the book being used to govern the rules.
My take is; it just works. It just happen to be a pleasure to browse with the app that I paid for an ad-free experience. Yay for small devs making great products.
FOSS is great, but I love to pay for a good experience.
I’m sure it has some good features, I’m one of those that just downloaded Reddits client and lived in ignorance about the third party clients.
I tried Sync and saw the placeholder advert boxes, and thought this is too much like Reddits client, and then I have to pay for removing them, maby I’ll just use some of the alternatives.
Personally though, I had tried most Lemmy apps on Android before Sync came out, and found the experience to be lacking. Honestly, I was close to bailing on Lemmy entirely, assuming it just wasn’t for me. Sync was exactly what I needed in terms of UI and organization, and I’m happy to pay the dev for the work they do on it.
