NaN stands for Not a Number. to simplify very briefly (and not accurate at all), when defining a standard for representing fractional values using binary digits in computers they systematically assigned natural numbers in a range of values to some fractional numbers. some of the possible natural numbers for reasons not worth talking about were unused, so they were designated as NaNs, and the value of the NaN itself is supposed to tell you what went wrong in your calculations to get a NaN. obviously if you use a NaN in an arithmetic operation the result is also Not a Number and that’s what the meme is referring to.
i think the real explanation is simpler and more understandable.
NaN is what you niet when you do something illegal like dividing by zero. There is no answer, but the operation has to result in something. So it gives you NaN, because the result is literally not a number
PHP styled forums and Boorus would be cool. I know some PHP forums have recently added activitypub support, but it’s still pretty recent and doesn’t have much of a userbase.
Also a video platform like YouTube in a way. There’s still a lot of issues to solve with that though, like storage and monetization. PeerTube just isn’t going to cut it. Realistically if this were to ever happen, it’d have to be YouTube themselves to add activitypub support themselves and let people connect to them.
Why is the picture so small? I really want getting into riverwm, but the tags system feels very weird to me, aka I still struggle to understand it completely, why yambar instead of waybar?
I tried to upload a bigger image but Lemmy wasn’t allowing me to do so with ‘file too big’ error. I like Yambar cause its easier to customize it with custom scripts (like having a script to show how many packages to update) and also the feel of it is different and interesting to use.

If the tags are anything like DWM or Awesome, they're like traditional workspaces like you'd find in Gnome or KDE, but with the option to display multiple workspaces at the same time.

In general white cishet westerners don’t know any social dynamic beyond the “in” group oppressing the “out” group (colonialism, settler-colonialism, slavery, capitalism, imperialism), so without targeted education, their imagination of different social structures can only be a projection of this assumed default state.
A scammer made unreasonable promises to investors and is now warning everyone that their victims/investors are going to lose money when the process of making fair laws takes the typical amount of time that it always takes.
