Tears of the Kingdom. I’m going to be here for awhile, but this game has made me want to play some other Switch games in my collection that I’ve been putting off, like Xenoblade Chronicles.
I use Debian for my docker servers. I try to use it on the desktop. Was using pop-os, games kept crashing, replace with arch? Archinstall wouldn’t work. Back to windows I guess. Maybe I should try Debian on the desktop since it’s the only one I ever get working properly.
If you don't want to moderate, don't let others sign up to your instance. That deals with pretty much all your legal issues.
For US-based people, register for DMCA notifications. This means if someone posts copyright infringing content, you get a message about it instead of your hosting provider, and you get to remove that content instead of your hosting provider removing your account.
Check about GDPR compliance. Part of that is fully deleting user content in a timely fashion when they ask. I've heard that Lemmy might not be good about that, but I'm not sure. If you have any EU users, you'll need to comply.
If you want to run a large instance, you'll need to have a plan regarding CSAM.
If you do moderate, use The Bad Space or shared block lists to defederate from the the most problematic instances. I'm not sure whether they've really made it to this general corner of the fediverse, though.
That said, there’s no particular requirement that a DMCA notice be sent to you even if you have a registered agent and some reporters will send it to the abuse contact for the IP netblock you’re hosted on regardless of registration, so you may want to make sure you understand what steps your provider may or may not take when they get a DMCA notice before you actually get a notice.
I’m a big fan of Dokuwiki. I use it to document and plan out my various hobbies and interests. Also listing future large projects and purchases. Installation is very simple.
I’ve also got Wordpress going as a home digital cookbook.
That is a low tech html page that can search the SQLite database someone posted. That page is hosted on IPFS, which you can access through one of the gateways, although I posted a link to the page via one of the gateways.
On that page is a button you can press for more information on how to download it to your local computer to have a speedy local copy.
How I have been using it is: search in the following format: [name] [release year] [quality like 1080p] [encode like x265]
do note that the database is not being updated since RARBG is obviously gone now, but stuff prior and including some of 2023 is all there, most what rarbg released.
This site is a decent resource to find and compare providers. I’ve used BunnyStreams and PrivateIPTVAcess with no big complaints, but it’s best to just try out 4-5 over however many months to find one that’s stable in your location. Some offer free trials.
I’d also highly recommend using privacy.com to proxy payments through a customizable digital debit card. I’ve never had an issue with a provider over charging or selling the info I give them, but you never know with ‘illegal’ services like this. It’s just a good safety measure to have imo.
Been using NixOS for a couple months. It’s gotten easier to configure and change because of it, and new computers are super easy to setup because I can just change/apply the config and system wide changes will apply with one command!
At this point, I just can’t do without Stacks, Tile view, Sessions and Work Spaces. The build-in Periodic Reload is also great, but by far, the most incredible feature is that you can customize your right-click menues however you like. I also have a lot of Command Chains set up in the Quick Command bar.
The amount of stuff that you can customize in Vivaldi has been without parallel for me.
