I only have used TPB… but I’m an old millennial out of the loop. What is a better alternative? Is there a guide for dummies?

I’ve read this can depend a lot on the bluetooth card. Personally after replacing my cheapo dongle from like 2012 that probably just didn’t do a recent enough BT version I didn’t have any issues connecting to them.

What card do you have? Might be useful for anyone else who has the same issue.

PlaidDragon , to linux in Is Systemd that bad afterall?

A lot of the people I see complaining about it are comparing to what was before it.

As someone who has only ever known systemd, I have no issues with it and, dare I say: I like it.

sundowner , to books in what book or books have you read that were so good that you didn’t want to put it down?

Imajica by Clive Barker.

Strae ,

Reading this right now, and a little over halfway through. Enjoying it, but it took a long time for me to really sink my teeth into it. It’s a very long book and a slow burn.

sundowner ,

It’s so intricate and intimate - I just disappeared into the book and isn’t that what we need sometimes?

I don’t think people call themselves lemmings either, lol. Most are just, like, neutral to the theme. We’re all just users on the fediverse.

I'm sorry, are you saying you indent the braces? Cause if that's not unintentional, those are both horrifying!

LoganNineFingers , to books in what book or books have you read that were so good that you didn’t want to put it down?

I read almost exclusively fantasy and sci fi. Here’s a few favourites.

Sci fi: Red Rising Trilogy Bobiverse The Martian and Project Hail Mary

Fantasy: The First Law Trilogy (my absolute favourite of everything I’ve read) Brandon Sanderson (literally any of his stuff. If you’re looking for a trilogy, start with Mistborn and if a stand alone, Warbreaker). Don’t be overwhelmed by his Cosmere world, if you only read mistborn era 1 it wraps up in a nice bow. Robin Hobbs first trilogy is a nice introduction to her series. If you don’t love it it wraps up nicely after the first trilogy.

Dystopian: Unwound by Neal Schusterman Arc of the Scythe by Neal Schusterman

chilidoghedgehog ,

You have EXACTLY the same taste as me. I definitely need to read First Law.

LoganNineFingers ,

Nice!

I haven’t read Joe Abercrombie’s stand alone novels that follow after The First Law but apparently they’re even better. My favourite stuff used to be Sanderson until I read this.

My lemmy name is also my favourite character from that trilogy as well

JackbyDev , to android in How does everyone feel about Oneplus phones?

My friend recommended the brand saying he never had a problem with it and it was as fast as the day he got it. My wife got one because her Pixel 3 died (apparently a relatively common thing for that model). Then after my wife got one my friend started complaining about his phone and my wife didn’t like her new phone. Then he got a pixel lol. Then I got one. It’s a nice phone. The Pixel 3 was my wife’s favorite before it died. So 2 years later we ditched the one plus for a new Pixel for her.

It seems like one plus used to be a good brand and maybe my friend had some loyalty still or his phone coincidentally started to slow down right after he recommended it lol

As a guy that’s been installing Linux since you had to compile network drivers and adjust the init scripts to use them; SystemD rocks.
