“Static”

Hatsu is “suitable” for Static Sites, but Hatsu itself is not static.

This is really cool for blogs, especially with for having comments without relying on a 3rd party company that collects cookies and requires a central account

Super cool project, thanks for sharing! I think I will try to integrate it with my static sites.

I find it somewhat unclear how this works. Is it the JavaScript that loads comments on the posts, on the static site itself?

kwaa OP ,

Web Components to be exact, which reads contextual data from Hatsu’s Compatible API. You might also want to take a look: github.com/oom-components/mastodon-comments

This sire talks like there are alternatives, and there’s one mentioned there. Are there other services that do this?

kwaa OP ,

Yes, Bridgy and Bridgy Fed both can do similar functionality, but Hatsu is the only one that is easily self-hosted and doesn’t require microformats / webmention.
