Holy shit, what the fuck is wrong with the poster?

“LOL The bitch died!”

Like, why would you fucking “lol” at someone’s death? Especially a civilian?

This is the problem with war. The people of the enemy nation often become sub-human to the other side. War dehumanizes.

jmcs ,

Someone that volunteers to actively support a war of aggression is really pushing the boundary of “civilian”.

cyborganism ,

Maybe. But I find the attitude of the person in the tweets towards this event quite disturbing.

Thteven ,
@Thteven@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, I really can’t get with the dehumanization side of war propaganda. Except for Putin, that dude deserves a fiery death.

cyborganism ,

Agree. He’s the only sub human piece of shit that deserve suffering until the arrival of a very slow death.

We saw this grow during the duration of WW1. This first Xmas (when everyone thought it would be over by then). English and German troops met in no man’s land with an informal truce to bury their dead, exchange greetings, and play a little football.

Once the generals heard of this they banned all events like this from ever happening again. It’s hard to fight against someone you find are much like you. The Nazis in the second War were masters of dehumanizing not only the Jews but the Russians too. They didn’t treat the English and the Americans the same way for the most part.

Eventually when one has been at war long enough most of our humanity is lost. How else does one cope with such horror and depravity that comes with war?

bradorsomething ,

Dehumanizing the enemy and creating the “other” is an important tool for normalizing killing other people who are there because they were ordered to come kill you. The “orcs of mordor” concept was a strong example of this.

Oh shit, I’m posting on NonCredibleDefense, my bad, guys. Also boobies.

I think rather than the tools and languages you use, titles should be determined by the kinds of memes you consume.

Why are spaces bad? Does it mess with sonarr/radar or something?

0x4E4F , (edited )

It’s legacy, white spaces weren’t allowed as characters on most FTP software, which is how the warez scene shares it’s releases. It used to be underscores, but dots are closer to a white space regarding separation (space wise), so most release groups use dots nowadays.

Generally, a white space as a character in filenames and directories is “frowned upon” in many operating systems, Windows included (somewhat). It makes writing scripts and software more comlicated because it’s used as as a separator for giving command line/terminal options to commands and binaries (programs).

originalucifer ,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

it goes way back before ftp.. i believe its because the original operating systems filesystems/namespacing could not handle the space character at all. so all files lacked spaces in their names. but only for like the first 30 years

biscoot ,

30 years ain’t small

0x4E4F ,

Yes, you’re correct, it goes much further back than FTP, all the way down to UNIX I believe. The problem was commands and parameters (options) which use a white space to seperate between them. So, filenames and directories were’t allowed to have white spaces in them.

Could financial markets once again be underpricing the risk of a global conflict? In the nightmare scenario, the descent into a third world war began two years ago, as Russian troops massed on the Ukrainian border.

These idiots forgot Russia annexed Crimea a decade ago.

tryptaminev ,

And at the time they moved fast enough and the Ukrainian government was inept and the military untrained and underequipped to do anything about it. That’s why the status quo was accepted like that.

In the first days of the Ukraine war a lot of western leaders were rather sceptical of Ukraines chance to defend itself and more than happy to write them off and accept a new order, if it doesn’t interfere with the Russia business.

Something similiar can also be seen from the US in WW2, were before Pearl Harbor it seemed the US was mostly accepting and seeing how to deal with a new world order, with Europe under Nazi control.

To them the danger never arises from any status quo or a quick change of status. Only a continued long lasting changing process is what they fear and get troubled by.
