Now this is a boring dystopia -- make a halfarsed attempt to "help" mentally exhausted call workers rather than giving them the power to punish abusive customers or to actually fix whatever corporate-level fuckery made them that way in the first place.
Like any idiot manager can understand that being shown a photo of your wife and kids after being shouted at by a customer for the nth time today isn’t really going to help.
It’s also incredibly insulting for call centre staff. Imagine encountering real problems with bank policy et cetera and having a computer try to placate you with a nice soothing picture.
They should be more concerned with calming down abusive customers – or, in the even more likely event that the customer is justifiably irate, correcting whatever corporate fuckery incited the whole situation in the first place!
But of course they won’t even consider that, and will place all the blame on the low-level peon instead.
Edit: I did some further research for different sources and can’t seem to find the same article anywhere. I can only find one that says they will use AI to alter hostile tones from call center employees.
Honestly that doesn't sound much better - essentially whitewashing the vocals of call centre employees to make them sound more pleasant to horrible customers
Whats funny is as a consumer I often wonder if they even have anyone answering the phones. Certainly if they do its was understaffed. Oh wait this is likel specifically for spam calling.
Always remember who will suffer if you lose your job. We know where you live. We know their face. Their names. How many calls have you not gotten to. How many before your lose your livelyhood.
