Hey, y’all! Just another random, loudmouthed, opinionated, Southern-fried nerdy American living abroad.

I’m moving off kbin to lemmy, so I won’t be posting from here (unless kbin social gets it together).

I’m not using lemmy and that link tried to download something, so I’ll stick with what I’m doing, thanks.

Do you mean “noise”?

stopthatgirl7 OP , to news in It's time to change how we cover Elon Musk
@stopthatgirl7@kbin.social avatar

I decided to stopped posting things about him after he made that laughable announcement that he’d pay the legal bills of anyone fired because of their tweets. He did it purely for attention, and I realized I don’t want to help give it to him anymore.

I made an exception for this article because it’s not about him, but about how writers can’t just keep uncritically covering every stupid thing he says.

Upvoting is like favoriting something, but a boost bumps something up so it’s more likely to appear on the trending section.

So upvote means “I like it” and boosting means “more people should see it,” from what I understand.

@stopthatgirl7@kbin.social avatar

All six individuals falsely accused have been Black. The Detroit Police Department runs an average of 125 facial recognition searches per year, almost exclusively on Black men, according to data reviewed by The Times.

Oh.

It's particularly risky for dark-skinned people. A 2020 post on the Harvard University website by Alex Najibi details the pervasive racial discrimination within facial recognition technology, highlighting research that demonstrates significant problems with accurately identifying Black individuals.

Oh. I see.

Always, without fail, it is someone who has never posted a single news article that pops in to insist something isn’t “news.”

Post something you consider news, then.

Originally, they did plan to release it on PS5 and PC. My guess is Sony made a timed exclusivity deal with them, which Sony had done with companies before. SE shout themselves in the foot by taking it.

Or maybe people should actually read articles first instead of commenting based off just reading the “click bait“ headline?

And the headline even says he was jailed for child sex offenses. That’s the tldr explanation right there if a video was too much.

stopthatgirl7 , to gaming in Bards are Baldur's Gate 3's best class and I can't imagine playing it as anything else
@stopthatgirl7@kbin.social avatar

I had been planning to play as a bard (I’m normally a rogue in RPGs, but we’ve got one in the party), then watched part of a Let’s Play where someone did, and the sight of the bard pulling out a violin in the middle of a battle was so ridiculous I immediately dismissed the idea because I knew I went be able to take my character seriously 🤣

I just finished downloading it and am playing as a ranger, and I’m not quite far into it enough to see how I like it, but I picked it because another Let’s Play I watched (I watched the first hour of several to see what it was like before I decided to get it) played as a ranger and it seemed interesting.

Maybe next playthrough I’ll give bard a go, just because I know they’re a good class.
