@venitamathias @blackmastodon Well, I mean, there are definitely rich, and there are definitely poor, and they definitely have different experiences in our society. So to say class is just a social construct seems to ignore the significant value that money has in our current system, and that doesn't seem to reflect reality. Especially as reflected in the article from the parent comment.

Call it something other than "class," maybe, but I have a hard time with the idea that it doesn't exist.

It's interesting, too, because the way I heard it, it was rich white supremacists who encouraged and fomented racism among poor workers in order to break the ability of the poor to work together against them.

So yeah, class is totally a thing that exists

you got the native americans that were already here, then you got the africans that were brought over (so may of them that the South wanted them counted for congressional seats), then you got the latinos (the Mexicans who settled most of texas and the southwest) and then you got the asians (brought over to build railroads and shit)
