Torrent? PeerTube?

For paid options I see no sense in decentralization. But a standard protocol for rental tied with some protocol for payments (like GNU Taler) to rent movies from any source with one tap and no install would be cool.

Smart TV: Runs Android Smartphone: Runs Android

Oh, so can I install Android TV interface to repurpose my phone as TV box?

Google and capitalism: No!

Also why I’m looking forward at Linux phones in the future.

May I ask what’s unmodern about Migadu? Their fast and readable UI is the reason I use them.

smileyhead , to technology in European Union set to revise cookie law, admits cookie banners are annoying

This is a misconception many sites fall into. They really do not have to ask for just cookies, it’s like there were asking to use CSS or JavaScript :).

smileyhead , to technology in European Union set to revise cookie law, admits cookie banners are annoying

There are no cookie banners, at least not nessesary ones. There is just a consent requirement for processing personal data.

Similiar reasons why using files when you can just use Google Docs and save links.

In EU law you do not have to ask for consent about storing preferences. Just for processing personal data, including IP address. So if they would not process personal data, everything would be fine.

The rest is unfortunetly still using SMS for notifications or to text people not using the same app proprietary app or not using standard Internet messaging.

smileyhead , to technology in Some Beeper users say Apple banned their Macs from iMessage

Beeper, Telegram, Signal, Pidgeon, Wire, Session… Every word related to sending a message.

smileyhead , to technology in Visits to piracy websites have increased 12% in the past four years

The year of privacy websites on the desktop.

smileyhead , to technology in Google Search, Chrome, and Android are all changing thanks to EU antitrust law

Maybe Google done it because of that, not saying it was a bad thing, but there should be a choice.

Also a much personal opinion about the whole RCS thing, because I love to rant about it. A chat protocol that rely on phone operators to work is such obscure and obsolete idea overall in the age of phones with internet connection.
