Quarantine was the main method of prevention of the black plague in Venice, and the lazzaretti served that purpose.

@info @seindal @venice @histodons I was in Venice for a week October 2021, fewer tourists and much safer COVID procedures than my city in U.S. The threat of quarantine was not as scary as in the 1600s however, wouldn't have minded too much really.
