kent_eh , to world in Kuwait to distribute 100,000 copies of Quran in Sweden after Muslim holy book desecrated at one-man protest

Free speech is a fundamental right

My saying your religion is stupid is just as protected as someone else talking about their imaginary friend.

kent_eh , to linux in Kdenlive 23.04.3 released - Kdenlive

It’s been several versions since I experienced that sort of issue.

kent_eh , to linux in Kdenlive 23.04.3 released - Kdenlive

It’s more powerful than you are giving it credit for.

Plus, it’s a bit disingenuous to compare a single program to an entire suite of software.

Kdenlive isn’t trying to be After Effects. But neither is is Adobe Premiere.

Meanwhile Putin is trying very hard to cut them off from access to Ukrain’s grain.

kent_eh , to technology in Tor’s shadowy reputation will only end if we all use it | Engadget

The biggest issue for day to day use for me is how slow it is. Because your traffic is being routed through 3-5 nodes before getting to its destination overall speed and latency suffer a lot

That’s why I never continued to use it after the times I experimented with Tor.

kent_eh , to android in Android phones can now tell you if there’s an AirTag following you

I have a Tile Tag and it’s not bad.

But afaik, that doesn’t have the same functionality as the air tag?

Air tags can ping any iPhone and report their location back through the cloud.

Most android devices won’t have a location reporting function active, unless the person happens to have also installed the Tile app in their phone, which is a pretty small percentage of phone users.

That’s not going to help me locate my suitcase that Air Canada sent to the other side of the world.

kent_eh , to technology in Tor’s shadowy reputation will only end if we all use it | Engadget

Any time I’ve tried to use Tor in the past I gave up because it was frustratingly slow.

kent_eh , to technology in Did Facebook fuel political polarization during the 2020 election? It’s complicated.

Which I guess means leftists are generally either more capable of spotting misinformation or less inclined to act on it.

Or are less likely to be on Facebook in general.

kent_eh , to world in False Claims that Heatwave is Bogus Spread Online

The problem with these new idiots is that they won’t get to experience their idiocy because they live in a place that’s not affected yet.

Or a place that is getting affected, but not in a way that looks like what they think global warming means.

More intense storms and more extreme weather of all types are still symptoms of the same problem, even if a local area isn’t hotter today than last summer.

it’s “fanatics exist”, and religions just give them a cover

It isn’t much of a leap to understanding that religions have always served the purpose of controlling people.

When a leader has a tool that allows the people to think his pronouncements have the endorsement of a God, that leader is going to use that tool.

kent_eh , to world in UFO hearings: whistleblower David Grusch says ‘non-human biologics’ found at alleged crash sites – as it happened

And the reasons behind it.

kent_eh , to technology in Apple already shipped attestation on the web, and we barely noticed

If a website doesn’t want me to see their shit, then I guess i won’t see their shit

That’s how I react to Twitter and Facebook requiring login to even view most things.

Whatever you’re showing isn’t important enough to be worth me making an account.

kent_eh , to android in ChatGPT app is available (*in the US)

We’re used to that at this point.

Often I think we are no more than an afterthought to most companies.

kent_eh , to android in People sticking with audio jack phones, why is USB-C earphones not a solution?

The fact that there is more than one “standard” for USB-C audio is enough to hate it.

Analog 3.5mm just works with everything. No dongles, no drivers, no “unsupported device”, no batteries.

It. Just. Works.

kent_eh , to technology in Which is your preferred smartwatch/fitness tracker?

Where’s the “none of the above” choice?

I agree with that preference
