Just realized that right now I am actively reading:

-The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles
-A Power Unbound by Freya Marske
-Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher
-The City of Brass by SA Chakraborty
-Vita Nostra by Marina Dyachenko
-Mother Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simone

That’s too much, even for me. What should I focus on finishing first?

Saw today in theatres! I read the book and LOVED it, but felt disappointed with the movie. 🙁 I know there's only so much they can fit within a couple hours but it felt rushed and lacked a lot of the emotional depth between Lily and Atlas that was present in the book. Still a great movie though. I think they did a great job touching on the topic of domestic abuse without making it really graphic. Good movie, but the book was better. 😉

@TheCozyCat @bookstodon Yeah I almost always hate the movie adaptations if I loved the book. 🥲

Just finished 3 by and I gotta say I just love, love, LOVE this series. This 3rd volume remains a cozy with a little bit of action this time, but that action is used to force character growth on a lot of fronts. The comedy is still there (and it’s absolutely hilarious in parts) but I really love where the characters are going. And it’s open ended so I’m expecting a 4th! @bookstodon

Just finished “The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi” by SA Chakraborty and I absolutely LOVED it! It’s a funny, heartfelt, pirate adventure where our reluctant hero is a tall, middle aged, devout Muslim, single mother with a bad knee. Set in the 12th century it feels very present, with Amina both guiltily relishing and hating being forced out of retirement for one final adventure. And it’s a well-told adventure with an incredibly unique protagonist. @bookstodon

@bookstodon I’m at the pool and just finished “Uprooted” by Naomi Novik. I have two more days of holiday left, any recommendations?

@wendypalmer @bookstodon Thanks! I loved “A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking” and “Swordheart” but “Paladin’s Grace” wasn’t for me. Happy to try something new!
