After a power outage, some electronics refuse to turn back on unless I unplug the power brick completely on the electronic side. Why does this happen?

I have some automated pet stuff in my house. There were 2 power outages 2 days in a row. After each one, the pet electronics refused to turn back on even if I unpluged and replugged the power brick from the wall outlet side. They would only turn on if I unplugged the power brick on the electronics side and plugged it back in....

Oh that does make sense. So if I unplug the unit from the wall outlet side and just wait it should also work? In theory I just need to wait long enough for the power brick to discharge completely. I’ll try that next time. Thank you!

That’s why I was hesitant to introduce it to Summit. But it’s what people want so I did add this eventually

Pixel 5 because it hasn’t died yet. Will probably continue to use it until 2025 or until it dies. Which ever comes first.

I pretty much can only use pixel devices these days because of the software. Flagship Samsung devices may be better hardware wise but their software is so bad and bloated it erases most of the benefits.

Honestly the biggest negative I can think of is the lack of a headphone jack. Yes I still want one. I still remember the time Google launched an ad campaign mocking iphones lack of a headphone jack only to remove it themselves one hardware update later.

I own like 3 dongles but it’s just not the same.

And Summit doesn’t show up at all 😞

Summit should be on the playstore. Try searching “app for lemmy” or “lemmy reader”.

Dev of Summit here. It is a lemmy reader like the other apps mentioned. You can find it on the play store by searching “app for lemmy” or “lemmy reader”. I’m actually releasing a big update today. Here’s a preview of the feature: youtube.com/shorts/8mIVZflUHhU?feature=share.

Oh no :(. If you’re up for it, I am open to feedback. You can send feedback either here or over at lemmy.world/c/summit. But if you don’t want to I understand.

I’m the developer of Summit. Unfortunately I don’t see anyone mention Summit but I would suggest giving it a try as well.

I think I’ve been a bit slower to implement certain features compared to the other apps, but the app is heavily focused on scalability and performance. Give it a try just in case you might like it. Play store link: Summit for Lemmy

Unfortunately the app is not open source :(

My feelings towards this might change in the future. However for the time being, my enjoyment of the project hinges on the project being closed source. Ie. open sourcing the project will likely lead to me stepping away from the project. So even if this significantly impacts the number of users, I would still prefer to keep it closed source. I’d rather have a fun side project I made than to create a popular project that I do not contribute to. It is unfortunate but it is what it is.
