HeadlessDude ,

I uninstalled Relay yesterday. It was a good decade but time to move on.
I get that there are workarounds to patch apps and bypass NSFW which I could very easily avail myself of, but the more I consider it the more this whole drama has put me off Reddit as a platform, and really any centralised platforms. I could still use them but I just don't want to.. staying as an active user just feels like tacit endorsement of communities being decimated by a company that doesn't even pay the folks that actually keep them going.

I posted a similar question a couple days back, responses indicated currently not doable. There is an open pull request for it though, so someone's working on it maybe

Does it even matter anymore?

Can someone give me some perspective on the 100 API per minute versus 10 API per minute in terms of me - a dirty f'ing casual - trying to use reddit via a 3rd party app?

I get that API is when my 3PA is talking to the reddit server, but is that happening for, say, every post that loads up on my infinite scroll? Or every time I open a post to read comments?

In other words, would my usage need to be as slow as "don't browse more than 10 posts per minute" to have stayed in the free lane?

Looks like r/programming discovered the astroturfing, so in true Reddit fashion they simply shut down the subreddit entirely to avoid the spread of negative public sentiment. Thanks for galvanizing my resolve to migrate to the fediverse, Spez

Hello i hope you dont mind if i post that post, in case someone does not want to go onto reddit:

Subreddits are starting to see spam from anti-protest, pro-admin ChatGPT bots
Thread on /r/Pics discussing bot spam. (Pics is now NSFW, but this thread is only profanity / vulgarity.)

/r/Programming closed (by admins?) after community recognition of bot spam:

Ycombinator thread: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36361247

Top-voted post from /r/Programming before it closed: https://web.archive.org/web/20230611210834/https://old.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/146wn9s/meta_who_is_astroturfing_rprogramming_and_why/

(I would have just crossposted the top thread directly, but this sub forbids crossposting NSFW posts (which is now everything on /r/Pics )
