If would be a good meme if it actually made reference to Kaepernick. Kneeling for a symbol is historically honorary, so without Kaepernick the meme is ambiguous. It wasn’t so much that Kaepernick was kneeling, it was that he was not standing for the flag with everyone else.

Kneeling for the US flag is kneeling for an imperialist bourgeois state, which is incompatible with communism at the most fundamental level. This meme looks like a patriotic socialist brainworms

Lie #3: Biden cares about “democracy” and “human rights” for the Cuban people

Or for any people. Citations Needed podcast:

  • The Human Rights Concern Troll Industrial Complex> The conceit that the U.S. has been a dedicated and earnest promoter of “freedom”, “democracy,” and “human rights” throughout the world — even if, at times, a “flawed” one — is a defining narrative, largely taken for granted by major media. But how accurate is this assumption? What do we mean when we talk about human rights? What abuses are highlighted and which aren’t? Where do labor rights fit into the broader discussion of human rights?
  • Biden’s Dictator Tour and the Tedium of Our “Human Rights Concerns” Theater> In this public News Brief, we detail the strange quadrennial tradition of acting like the US is “abandoning its principles” by reaffirming decades-long alliances with Israel and Saudi Arabia.
  • The Banality of CIA-Curated Definitions of ‘Democracy’> Few words elicit such warm feelings as the term “Democracy.” Wars are supposedly fought for it, foreign policies are built around it, protecting and advancing it is considered the United States’ highest moral order.

Democracy’s alleged opposite - broadly called “authoritarianism,” “autocracy” or "tyranny” - is cast as the ultimate evil. The stifling, oppressive boot of the state that curtails liberties and must be fought at all costs. This is the world in which we operate and the one where the United States and its satellite media and NGO allies fight to preserve and defend democracy.

So how is “democracy” defined and how are those definitions used to justify American exceptionalism? Where do positive and negative rights come into play, and how do societal choices like illiteracy, poverty, and hunger factor into our notions of freedom?

Yes, a peace agenda.

Edit to add: Sachs probably knows more about Russia and Ukraine than every Lemmy user put together. He could give Biden’s own cabinet a run for their money. He was a major figure in the US neoliberal shock therapy of the post-Soviet states, as evidenced by his numerous mentions in the Wikipedia article.

But I digress: this post was about COVID-19.

Jeffery Sachs is a primary source on this issue: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Sachs#COVID-19

In spring 2020, Richard Horton, editor of The Lancet, appointed Sachs as chair of its COVID-19 Commission, whose goals were to provide recommendations for public health policy and improve the practice of medicine. Sachs set up a number of task forces, including one on the origins of the virus.

The Lancet is referenced over a dozen times on Wikipedia’s main COVID-19 page.

Jeffery Sachs in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), May 2022: A call for an independent inquiry into the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus

Special concerns surround the presence of an unusual furin cleavage site (FCS) in SARS-CoV-2 that augments the pathogenicity and transmissibility of the virus relative to related viruses like SARS-CoV-1. SARS-CoV-2 is, to date, the only identified member of the subgenus sarbecovirus that contains an FCS, although these are present in other coronaviruses. A portion of the sequence of the spike protein of some of these viruses is illustrated in the alignment shown in Fig. 1, illustrating the unusual nature of the FCS and its apparent insertion in SARS-CoV-2. From the first weeks after the genome sequence of SARS-CoV-2 became available, researchers have commented on the unexpected presence of the FCS within SARS-CoV-2—the implication being that SARS-CoV-2 might be a product of laboratory manipulation. In a review piece arguing against this possibility, it was asserted that the amino acid sequence of the FCS in SARS-CoV-2 is an unusual, nonstandard sequence for an FCS and that nobody in a laboratory would design such a novel FCS.

They are not a democratic country.

Why would you say that? Meanwhile, Princeton University Study: US is an oligarchy, not a democracy. Which isn’t surprising since capitalist democracy is a sham democracy.

They do not have freedom of speech like most countries

I can only say that they are freer than Anglosphere propaganda claim. Meanwhile Julian Assange has been a political prisoner for 12 years and counting, despite even the major Global North corporate media pleading for his exoneration.

As far as I perceive, they are generally enemies of well-intentioned countries.

I’m not sure which countries you’re referring to, but maybe you mean the other imperial core countries. As neocolonizers, they are no more well-intentioned than the US is, from the perspective of the periphery countries they plunder.
