They need to double the fine on Convicted Sex Offender Treason Trump each time.

btaf45 ,

On Android you can have other app stores, why don’t you have?

I do I have a Samsung store. Beyond that, the ability to sideload apps is a huge reason I use Android and IOS sucks. I also have apps I’ve loaded off of web sites and my own LAN.

btaf45 ,

If you’re 40 or under it isn’t worth saving.

That is precisely the best time to save and invest.

btaf45 ,

Because every boomer spent a lot of their working years in the biggest golden age of American history and had access to a ton of advantages (unions, pensions, cheap housing, the ability to get a good job without a college degree, etc.)

Was born at tail end of baby boom. Never had a single one of those things.

btaf45 ,

It sounds awful. The draw of notepad is its simplicity. I wish software companies would stop ruining their good versions of popular software.

btaf45 ,

If notepad makes a connection to the internet and waits for a connection and response then it is enshitified. If MS wants to do that they need for fork the code and offer the enshitified version under a different name “Notepad AI”

btaf45 ,

Here on Kbin.social it takes 712 kilobytes for me to view it.

And that is fine for a social networking app like lemmy/kbin. When I am using notepad I just want speed to view some text on a standalone machine, not a bunch of crappy bloat. Same for all of the other notepad users who outnumber people reading this by 1 million to 1.

Steam didn’t refund any of the cost of the games their DRM rendered inoperable on my Windows 7 PC. They happily took my money 1 week before dropping support.

btaf45 ,

I actually have an alternate boot that runs Linux. I have Windows 7 PC precisely to be able to run most amount of games, including older games.

btaf45 ,

It’s on them. I don’t want “support” I wanted them to disable their DRM before they abandoned Windows 7.

btaf45 ,

It is ridiculous that Steam won’t let you play your games you payed for outside of steam. Games that you’ve played for years on Windows 7 suddenly no longer play. Steam is like a DRM system that suddenly stops working and makes all the stuff you bought worthless.

October 7 was a disgrace, Hamas must be destroyed because they don’t ever want a lasting cease fire

You can thank George Bush, the previous terrible choice of most Convicted Rapist Treason Trump voters, for the process that led Hamas to power in Gaza.

btaf45 ,

This may be a dumb question, but why can’t you set the debugger on and step thru the program to see why it branches the way it does?

btaf45 ,

the algorithm chooses itself what feature is relevant when making decisions.

Can’t you determine how and why that choice is made?

The problem is that those features are almost impossible to decript since they are often list of numbers.

What if you had a team of people whose only job was to understand this? After awhile they would get better and better at it.

btaf45 ,

Each of them is tuned by the input data, which is a long and expensive process.

But surely the history of how this data is tuned/created is kept track of. If you want to know how a specific value is created you ideally should be able to reference the entire history of how it changed over time.

I’m not saying this would be easy, but you could have people whose entire job is to understand this and with unlimited amounts of time to do so if it is important enough. And it seems like it would be important enough and such people would be very valuable.

Now that AI is first taking off is exactly the time to establish the precedent that we do not let it escape the understanding and control of humans.

btaf45 ,

Hey Mike, you are the depravity. You outed yourself as an anti-American neofascist when you tried to overthrow democracy and replace it with a dictatorship.

This is just Turkey’s dictator praising Gaza’s dictatorship whose chief victim is that Gazan population.

[We will never shy away from voicing the truth that Hamas members protecting their lands, honour, and lives ]

Hamas is not the the owners of Gaza dipshit. They are the oppressors of Gaza. You could have tried to get Hamas to leave Gaza and let the hostages go, and you could have sent ships to evacuate Gazans. You didn’t do either one.

btaf45 ,

Instead of telling Gazans to all go south, why don’t they set up some safe zones in Northern areas controlled by the IDF? They could bring in full supplies of everything, let people leave Gaza, and/or allow them to go to the west bank if they choose.

btaf45 OP ,

Australia has offered refuge to citizens of Tuvalu because of the catastrophic impacts of climate change, in a landmark new pact.

An entire nation will be swallowed up by climate change. And will have to mass evacuate to another country. This looks like the future.

Those uniforms remind me of the WWII uniforms. The German military certainly has some historical credibility.

Android has at least one major advantage over Apple. It lets you use alternate app stores and sideways loading.

She is mad at Convicted Rapist Treason Trump for not paying her legal bills.

btaf45 ,

As an attorney who is also a Christian,

The bible says “Do not spread false reports”.

So she failed at both of these things.

btaf45 ,

I couldn’t care less about her claiming to be a Christian - it’s meaningless really.

There are 2 aspects about this I care about. (1). I am getting more and more outraged that Christianity has become a gateway drug for neofascist extremism every time I hear one of these jerks making a big deal about being a “Christian”. (2) The hypocrisy of these “Christians” simply pisses me off. It’s obvious they ignore everything the bible says that they don’t like, so why the pompous arrogance about membership in something you don’t take at all seriously?

Trump 'does not have the right to say and do exactly what he pleases,' Judge Chutkan says, issuing gag order (www.cnn.com)

A federal judge on Monday issued a gag order on former President Donald Trump, limiting what he can say about special counsel Jack Smith’s federal prosecution into his alleged attempt to subvert in the 2020 presidential election....

And the consequences when he breaks this order less than 24 hours from now?

Sneak peak from the future.

Only a media person would be thinking that xshitter used to be the ‘town square’. If anything it used to be reddit, but now we lots of better options. Like Lemmy.

btaf45 ,

I predate the internet and honestly I can’t remember people ever being so aggressively stupid. Social media has fucked them up.

Right wing hate radio was the main culprit.

btaf45 ,

Why would people today be any better?

Yep. It is important to understand that conservative have always been people who love to be lied to. The internet just makes it more obvious. Before they said Obama was a Muslim they said Ike was a Communist. Before they said that horse medicine cures covid they said that Laetrile cures cancer.

btaf45 ,

An Android phone is a small Linux device. Just install termux.

btaf45 ,

Termux uses a hack that was already patched, so if Termux ever update to newer API level it won’t work.

I got a brand new phone and installed Termux a few weeks ago.

I cannot mount a drive, access app’s files and their configs,

That is a problem on normal Android. But with Termux and certain other programs that have the right permissions, like the “File” app that came with my Samsung, you can access the entire OS and network drives.

I cannot update beyond manufacturer support and swap OSes like on PC and the list goes on…

If you root your phone you can do anything.

btaf45 ,

I see you haven’t used Linux for longer, but it has a concept of mounting.

Dude I’ve used Unix for 40 years since before Linux existed. I had an Android tablet, in which I installed termux on, and mounted my shared network drives using Samba on termux. I literally used the Linux “mount” command to mount it to my termux linux filesystem.

You can see how short is the list of supported phones, it needs to be ported for every device separately and takes huge amount of work

And it was a huge amount of work to port Unix to various hardware back in the day.

How come nobody is talking about the huge role that President Bush’s incompetence played in causing this whole horrible mess?

www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna19215537

June 15, 2007

The takeover this week of the Gaza Strip by the Hamas militant group dedicated to the elimination of Israel demonstrates how much that vision has failed to materialize, in part because of actions taken by the administration. The United States championed Israel’s departure from the Gaza Strip as a first step toward peace and then pressed both Israelis and Palestinians to schedule legislative elections, which Hamas unexpectedly won. Now Hamas is the unchallenged power in Gaza.

btaf45 ,

How come nobody is mentioning how President George Bush is the guy who fucked up Gaza?

www.brookings.edu/…/the-day-that-bush-took-gaza/

The Day That Bush Took Gaza

April 25, 2004

President Bush’s embrace of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s plan for unilateral Israeli disengagement from the Gaza Strip is going to turn out to be more than a mere gesture. Sharon’s radical initiative would evacuate all Israeli settlements and military positions, unilaterally, within the next 18 months…de facto responsibility for what happens in Gaza once Israel withdraws will fall to the United States. That’s the hidden meaning in the president’s letter of assurance to Sharon saying that the United States will lead an international effort to build the capacity and will of Palestinian institutions to fight terrorism and prevent the areas from which Israel withdraws from posing a threat.

One wonders whether Bush really appreciates what he is getting himself and the United States into. Having trumpeted his support for an independent Palestinian state, he is now taking on responsibility for ensuring that the Gaza mini-state created by Israel’s withdrawal does not turn into a failed terrorist state.

btaf45 ,

Sharon was going to let the Palestinian Authority (who rules the west bank) run Gaza. Bush is the guy who pushed for democratic elections. That’s why he’s the one who is most responsible. Of course the Gaza residents over 40 who voted for Hamas (perhaps around 20% of the current population) also share the blame. This is also something the news media doesn’t talk about. The Gaza civilians voted Hamas into power.

btaf45 ,

It’s not a stretch. It was Bush’s idea to hold democratic elections in Gaza, instead of turning Gaza over to the Palestinian Authority. Yes it was a noble idea, but it showed how Bush was incompetent on foreign matters. Bush also let Bin Laden escape from Tora Bora when he refused to order the thousands of nearby US soldiers to go get him.

This all goes to show how incredibly important it is to have a US president who is competent. Bush would probably argue that he was just trying to do the right thing in pushing for democracy. And I’m not saying Bush is the only person responsible. But every time another building in Gaza is destroyed by bombing, that happened because Bush made the wrong call while he was in charge.

Despite rocky rollout, more than 7 million Americans have received updated Covid-19 vaccines, HHS says (www.cnn.com)

I was shafted by an Ebay seller who was nasty and awful. He acted like he was too stupid to understand why his item was not at all what I ordered. He had a 99.4% approval rating. I thought how the hell was that possible? I found out when I went to leave my negative rating and Ebay would not allow me to post the negative rating.

So far what I’ve seen from AI is that it lies and lies and lies. It lies about history. It lies about science. It lies about politics. It lies about case law. It lies about programming libraries. Maybe this will all be fixed some day, or maybe it will just get worse. Until then the only thing I would trust it is about something in which their is no wrong answer.

Russia claims `neo-Nazis’ were at wake for Ukrainian soldier in village café where missile killed 52 (apnews.com)

Russia’s U.N. ambassador alleged Monday that “neo-Nazis” and military-age men were at the wake for a Ukrainian soldier in a village café where a missile last week killed 52 people, even as Security Council members retorted that Russia was responsible for starting the war and committing crimes....

btaf45 ,

Why would Putin’s men show up there? Weird.

btaf45 ,

Conservatives love to be lied to. But nobody else does. So stop this shit. Nobody who is not a conservative likes to be lied to. And we all think of the people who do like to be lied to as the dumbest of the dumb.
