I've often considered buying a kindle or another eReader but yet I have so many questions as a screenreader user. How well does the text to speech software on it work? does it only work within books, or does it work on the rest of the device too? like downloading books, changing settings, that kind of thing? I hear it only works with Bluetooth as the kindle devices don't have any speakers. Is there an easy way for me to turn the softtware on and off as needed, or would i need someone who can see to do all that for me? SO many questions! Would be good to talk to someone who owns a kindle. @bookstodon

@the_bookwolf @bookstodon On the kindle that is the Fire, it should be fine as it is just a modified Android basically, but on like the paper white, it doesn't have voice view and such. Voice View is on the non-Fire tablets, but it only reads books, on the Fire tablets it pretty much lets you do everything on the device as you would with any android device. @the_bookwolf @bookstodon Also, you can always call the Amazon accessibility phone line and ask them questions as well. I've never had one of the Kindles which was no a Fire, except the long ago first gen Kindle when I still had sight, so I can't help too much in this area.

Need some suggestions on to read. My family is having a yard sale today and it's really nice outside, so I'd like to take my display outside and sit and read, but I'm out of new books to read. I love reading anyway and want to find something good. I like , , , , and certain types of nonfiction. To those who are , if you know of something on or , that would be great. @bookstodon @mastoblind

@Laniebird91 @bookstodon @mastoblind If you like cozy mysteries, I love the Aunt Dimity stories.
