Like Discovery, Strange New Worlds is filmed in Toronto, so it was a fairly easy location shoot for them.

The Voyager crew visited 1996 as well, and things seemed pretty much fine.

A fun interview, accompanied by the weirdest photo spread I've seen in quite some time.

ValueSubtracted , to startrek in (Meta) Do we have a general forum for this instance?
@ValueSubtracted@startrek.website avatar

c/startrek is the "general" community of the instance, yes.

The error message on Jerboa is a known issue - unfortunately, we're going to wait until v.0.18.1 is released, as CAPTCHA is disabled in v.0.18.0, and we're not willing to give that up at this time.

There are three main workarounds that we're aware of for this issue:

  • When your Jerboa login fails, simply use Android's "back" button to return to the initial screen in the app - you should actually be logged in, and able to engage with the instance, at least in a limited fashion.
  • There is a fork of Jerboa that's supposed to compatible with instances running v.0.17 - I haven't tested this myself, so use at your own risk.
  • You can access the instance through a mobile web browser - the mobile web version of Lemmy is actually pretty good, and I preferred it over Jerboa even before the version mismatch became an issue. You can even install the instance as a PWA through Chrome's "..." menu.

Apologies - my own thoughts on the episode also have been lost to time.

We've identified the problem, and it shouldn't happen again!

I included this in the Discussion Thread 1.0, but I agree - Wesley brought a unique charisma to Kirk that worked really well without being Shatnerian.

Ah shoot, I just confirmed this. We had tried it with Jerboa, but we were already logged in.

While we consider our options, I would suggest accessing the instance through your web browser. I don't think you'll have any issues doing it that way, and the mobile interface is pretty decent.

V. 0.18 disables CAPTCHA support, which we're not willing to do at this time, as there are a lot of bots on the platform. It's supposed to be re-instated in 0.18.1, so we're probably going to wait for that.

From what we understand, it should be possible to simply bypass the warning that Jerboa sends, and use the instance as normal - let us know if that's not the case.

Also, the instance can be installed as a PWA through Chrome on Android phones - I've found that to be a good experience overall.

I’ve seen that much of Crave’s Star Trek catalogue is coming off in July.

Where have you seen that? There's nothing on the list compiled by Mobile Syrup.

If true, that would be a significant development, signaling the end of a relationship between Paramount and Bell that's lasted far longer than I expected.

Not for nothing (but possibly not for much, either), Crave still has "Westworld" despite Warner pulling it from Max.

  1. It was one of the few that wasn’t taken.
  2. It made us laugh.

They didn’t say anything about it in “Masterpiece Society” either.

That colony wasn’t a member of the Federation, though.> Also, when Torres was pregnant in Voyager, she wanted the Doctor to modify her baby to remove Klingon traits and no one said it was illegal.

One could argue that’s not an augmentation.

They kept the tradition alive by having a starship captain handle the prosecution, though.

DS9 said that genetic modification was still allowed for the treatment of serious illnesses. So it doesn’t make sense for all permanent genetic modification to be banned.

The franchise is fairly consistent about genetic enhancements (i.e., augmentation) are illegal, while medical procedures are not. The Darwin station is the biggest outlier.

We are looking into it - we don't have a wiki up and running just yet, but we'll see about getting it up somewhere ASAP.
