Esquire’s “The 75 Best Sci-Fi Books of All Time”. Hmmmm …

(Criteria: One book per author, single installment represents the series, and books that brought something new and innovative to the genre.)

@ottsatwork @bookstodon Interesting list. But no Vernor Vinge, no Cordwainer Smith, and several now-fashionable books I doubt will stand the test of time.

@mojala @ottsatwork @bookstodon I kinda enjoyed that one, and he labours under the disadvantage that I can never spell his name. But I think "This is how you win the time war" is massively overrated, and I got nothing out of Ann Lecky. Becky Chambers has the very best titles, but I find the books a relative disappointment.

@mojala @ottsatwork @bookstodon There is a mountain of quite bad German SF, and some groundbreaking work (and the intersection is not empty ;-). Chiang is great, I'm still working up my courage to try Miéville, and I've read Jemisin. I can see why people like her, but it's not my favourite style.

@CommonMugwort @mojala @ottsatwork @bookstodon Well, @selfpublisher been developing the NEBULAR series for many years now - a modern take on classical space opera. It's available in at least German and French, but I think it's been translated to several other languages.
