Another beautiful book by one of my favourite writers. A family lives with their three grown daughters in the family orchard during the pandemic. Like a modern day's Decamerone the mother tells her love story from when she was a young actress.

Like all good fiction, to me it's all about the characters and atmosphere. And Patchett is so good at that. As the blurp on the back cover says: I would read her shopping lists!

@MarianHellema @bookstodon I am half way through listening to this as an with Meryl Streep as narrator. 🙂 I chose the book to see what her narration was like and, no surprise, Streep excels, although the story isn't really holding my attention.

There is a nice rhythm to Patchett's writing and I may try another - maybe reading rather than audiobook.
