Really? Bcz I do Indie dev, and every use case I’ve tried produces dogshit. Want to make some textures using AI, they’re incoherent. Okay, what about a 3D model? No, also dogshit incoherent garbage… k, well, if I can’t do a 3D model with AI, maybe I can just make a run animation… yeah, it will take 3 straight weeks of training data to make a shitty run cycle.

I have used ChatGPT to generate code. It literally made up API calls that didn’t exist. I’m not sorting through that garbage just to see if it can get the logic sort of right. As for the rest, you’re absolute wrong. I’ve tried to generate textures, pixel art, and 3D assets before, and it’s all ended up being nonsensical and useless.

This is sad, and seems intentional by the GOP. If they can get people to leave states with shitty laws and force them to concentrate in a select few states then more states will end up red with the same amount of disproportionate representation. I personally think this is a broader plan to stay in power even as demographics trend away from supporting the GOP.

If you’re not happy with what’s out there, start your own company and see if you can do it better. Engineering is hard, period. Making video games is difficult, hardware is difficult, and making sure you’re price competitive while having all the ridiculously features people demand be available, is a balancing act.

I’m technically an aerospace engineer, but all I do is code most days. I think it depends highly on what you do, since my job also involves doing things not strictly coding related as well, I always slap the engineer title next to it. If you only code, then it’s more appropriate to say software dev, or programmer. But, again its highly dependent on your role.

And as other people have mentioned, seems like outside the U.S. the term engineer is a protected title, so my take really only applies within the U.S.

I would say tho, a lot of programmers in the U.S. do get called software engineers. Just depends on where you go I guess.

It never ceases to amazing me how angry people get when a game isn’t perfect and bug free. We want more and more content and graphics with the same amount or less resources, all the while refusing to pay any more for it.

I miss the days when people were happy with n64 and ps1 graphics. You didn’t need a team of 200 people to put out hyper realistic graphic open world games that people would still shit on.

I’m not on any side of the fence. I just see these posts shitting on games all the time, and get tired of seeing them. If you don’t like a game fine, don’t play it. But making games is hella difficult. I make indie games in my spare time, and I can honestly say, just making a single player game is hard, let alone a multi-player game, or anything realistic. Like Jesus, if you have such a huge problem with these games, go make a better one yourself.

I was not expecting to be so upset hearing this news. I grew up watching dbz in some of the most turbulent times of my life. I watched his TV shows and saw how the characters in the show always prevailed time and time again over those who tried to harm them. It very much did not mirror my childhood, but it gave me a much needed distraction from real life, and made me believe that there were actually good things in the world, and not just pain and suffering.

RIP Mr. Toriyama, you saved me even though you never knew me.
