downside of masto's particular set of affordances is I can't figure out who posted this, and who boosted it into my timeline. But thank you both!!

"Lester del Rey... intuited that what millions wanted from a publishing industry urgently optimizing to keep up with capitalism was to escape the modern age into a world where capitalism and industry had never happened. There is magic in that. At least I thought so, as a kid. But there’s also, in del Rey’s vision, a formulaic—let’s face it, industrial, rationalized—conception of culture and a pernicious nostalgia that courts sexism and white supremacy. Today, fantasy is, along with romance, our wildest, most flourishing genre. It might not be this way were it not for Lester del Rey, even if his legacy now is as the wizard so many writers and readers choose to battle against."

I andomly picked up Thieve's World Graphics volume 1 in a used book shop and have become a bit obcessed myself! I tracked down volume 2 but there's allegedly still 4 more Graphics volumes and a recollection of the first 3 colorized! I should probably look for the 2 RPG lines as well; I love to collect old RPG books!

It's a great series: cool setting, beautiful art, quick pacing!

I have one of his books and love it! Very recommended, though the one I have doesn't have too much on greenhouses.

Page 192-193 of the Self Sufficient Life, showing information about and a picture of a greenhouse. Too much text to transcribe for a caption.

No coincidence that my partner, the librarian, has been stockpiling books on self-help topics now that the Internet is practically useless (and increasingly, actively damgerous) for things like "how do I repair X" or "recipe for bread".
