The closing scene of this episode reminded me of "Conspiracy". Both were left open ended. While we never had a follow up for the latter episode, we had "Best of Both Worlds", "I, Borg", VOY, "First Contact", PIC and other stories which explored the Borg in greater detail.
I will be stepping away for a little while and hope to be back for VOY. If I'm not able to, have a nice weekend and until next time!
While this episode is known for being the debut of the Borg, it was also the debut of Ensign Sonya Gomez. We will see her again on TNG as well as on Lower Decks where we find out she is Captain Gomez. On Lower Decks, she mentioned the beverage spilling incident with Picard from this episode.

Tonight's fun fact: Carolyn Seymour guest starred as Romulan Commander Taris. She would return to guest starred several more times in the franchise as Mirasta Yale (TNG's "First Contact"), Romulan Commander Toreth in TNG's "Face of the Enemy" and Mrs. Templeton on VOY.
This shot of the Yamato's primary hull disintegrating was one of my favorite TNG visual special effects shots from the first couple of seasons of the show.
At the start of this episode, the Enterprise was approached by the USS Yamato, a fellow Galaxy-class starship. The Yamato was named after the Japanese battleship which served as the flagship of the Japanese Navy in World War II.
