Also, I didn't really notice Threads was succeeding.
I post about !boinc a bunch on mastodon hopefully to get some excitement from astrophysics folks, there’s tons of cool boinc projects doing astrophysics research. Science runs on twitter, and many scientists are desperately searching for an alternative, imo it’s only a matter of time before they all end up on mastodon or nostr.
My feed is now all those interesting people, places, & publications that I followed on #Instagram over the years reacting & replying to celebrities & brands like Dunkin Donuts and fucking Paris Hilton.
Or worse, seeing celebrities & brands replying to each other.
@renwillis I got on Threads for like 10 mins and immediately noped out. I couldn't put my finger on why I hated it so much, and didn't care enough to waste the brain space to figure it out. You managed to encapsulate what I was feeling perfectly in your write up.
