‘Neurotribes’ changed my life. Before 2015 I identified as ‘aspie’ & was closeted & ashamed of all the ways in which I struggled with things other people seemed to navigate easily. #SteveSilberman’s work gave me the historical context & conceptual tools I needed to claim my autistic identity & begin the long journey of becoming comfortable with my differences, healing my family, & finding my peers.
