“From words to prosperity.” 📖
“We see reading as part of living.” 📚
“From now on I would keep the lights on in my heart.” ❤️
“Books always make life more vibrant! Thank you.”
While I often use the local indie #bookshop, I also am often in remoter places with no bookshop (sob) So I am interested in online book sellers.
Who among the booklovers uses new-to-me Tertulia.com?
Is it even open to folks outside the US? I'd love to hear about anyone's experience/thoughts
Good morning bibliophiles. It's a bit of a grey day in Winchcombe, perfect for reading or book shopping.
New stock in includes this super sweet 2001 Limited Edition Dean's Rag Book Bear and the brilliant Booklover's Guide to Bookshops 2024 Calendar by Thomas Shepherd.
#BookReview How optimistic or delusional does a 25-yr veteran of publishing have to be to open a tiny bookshop up on a steep hill in an Italian Tuscan village of 180 people? Poet Alba Donati did just that in December 2019 and this is her account of returning to her childhood home and setting up a perfect little gem of a bookshop, and the ups and downs of it all. She's an embracer of life and a people person, and if this book is anything to go by, a force of nature. The diary entries flit back and forth in time, jump from what's happening with the shop to stories about the characters who make up her large family and the villagers. She writes eloquently about the mountainous landscape she loves, and the books she cares passionately about. It's catnip for readers who can't resist a book about books.
Bless @internetarchive for saving the interesting website of the late #AnnSwinfen, to which she was adding until her sudden death in August 2018. Here's her introduction to #medieval#records & to the business of the #bookseller, supplying both affordable #textbooks to students & fine illustrated #manuscripts to wealthy patrons:
Added Jillian Dodd's site to my list of DRM-free bookshops.
Jillian Dodd is a USA Today best-selling romance author.
She writes fun binge-able romance series with characters her readers fall in love with—from the boy next door, to the daughter of a famous actress, to a spy who might save the world.
You've heard the saying "God laughs at your plans." Well, I had planned to go shopping on Saturday, at the biggest used book emporium I could find, but I got deathly ill late on Friday night and I'm just now crawling out of it.
So, today, we have chosen a vintage book shop owned by women (bonus points) and I hope they're ready for us. They have 80,000 used books and collectibles. "Jeeves, my shopping cart!" It's like letting us loose in a candy store.
@CandaceRobbAuthor@clive Agree! For delivery of books & music in the UK there's also www.hive.co.uk
My current favourite #IndieBookshop loves Hive. The #bookshop is tiny, with very high danger-to-size ratio, & has made as much money through nominations on Hive as on direct sales. Hive is run by Gardners the big UK book distributor. If you can pick up in the shop, it earns 25%.
